Photographer's Note
I am shocked that I am posting the first ever photo of the Cultural Centre (Caixa Forum) in Zaragoza. I checked all 29 pages that exist on TE from this city.
Having seen the amazing modern architecture from Zaragoza on TE, I made sure this city was on my to-see-list when I went to Spain.
Malgo, Juan (JFS), Sacimar, Snunney, PaulVDV, and Rychem are some of the most recent TE members who have posted photos from this cool city. Yet I couldn't find one of this amazing building.
Please check the WS for 2 other angles. This angle you see now is VERY misleading, check the other shots to see how it stands from across the street.
Here i'm pointing straight UP with my ultra wide angle 8-16mm lens to dramatic visual effect, and I love it. To make it even better, a man with a walking cane made his presence felt.
Try to find this same section from the WS view :)
The city has many mid 1950's 60's ugly stone architecture, and I love that as well. Zaragoza has such a mixture of old and modern buildings. The old seem to be of the "Brutalism" style (yes, an actual term), and I'll show you some of those in later posts. Brutalism architecture is mostly solid concrete, grey, lacking artistic flare and design. Zaragoza also seems to have what looks like many Communism style architectural buildings.
Then you have these amazing new modern styles, what an interesting mix. Spend 2 days here and you'll be happy you did!

Hello Craig,
What an eye-catchingly, styled building. It's a must for a photograph!
I agree with your choice of main post, it makes a stunning feature of of the pointed overhang! Not only have you posted an original building but a gentleman dressed in a fashion you rarely see, unless going to a business meeting or a wedding!
It is a curious shape. From your w/s views it looks as if it could easily topple over!
I definitely prefer buildings like this than those termed Brutalistic.
Have a good day,
Bev :-)

Hello Craig, this building appears to be defying gravity, what a strange design.
Thank you for bringing it to our attention. All three shots are excellent.
At first in the main post, I was unsure as to whether the man with his stick was actually real!
This shot is so dramatic, taken with your usual imaginative and original flair.
Regards Jean.

Hello Craig, I do not know what you mean by ugly architecture from Zaragoza on TE. I found the architecture of Zaragoza very interesting and beautiful. And so many wonderful monuments and modern structures. I do not remember this one but on photos in Google it doesn't appeal to me so much, compared to the area of Expo, the bridges or the IACC. I have some hundreds of photos, I have shown only a few.
But this photo is cool, with the lines on the pavement and the guy.
Kind regards MAlgo

Hello Craig
A beautiful building by the Barcelona architect Carme Pinós. Yes, the woman is also rising in contemporary architecture.
The three photos give a beautiful picture of this very spatial design. I would also like to see the interior.
Excellent work
Have a nice day, groet Rob

Hello Craig,
A great shot of this piece of modern architecture and you captured it from a great viewpoint. Great that this building is now finally part of TE as well. The gentleman in hat and coat with a walking cane at his side is a great detail as well. Very well done!

Bonjour, cher Craig,
Toujours à la recherche du beau, du moins beau et de l'étonnant surtout !
Bravo pour ces trois prises de vue. L'on se demande comment tout cela tient debout ! ;o)
Une réussite de plus avec une note appréciée.
Très bonne journée.

Hello Craig,
I'm afraid I knew nothing about this extraordinary building, in any event we were only in the city for one night and had limited photographic opportunities. I like the close crop and the presence of the man with his cane seemingly waiting for someone/something. The stripy lines in the pavement supply a good set of leads.

Hi Craig,
The presenc eof the person has an effect of scale. The point of view is showing the details of the Cultural Centre. The light is enhancing the colours. Have a nice day.

Hello Craig,
With that lens you managed to include a lot of building in one photo from a very short distance. You also managed to make the man very thin and tall. ;-) I wonder if the egg-shaped sculpture is actually round. It's in any case an original building and the WS tell us that it can be photographed from many angles and make a different impression every time.
Best wishes,
Gert

Bonjour Craig,
Pas seulement la première photo de ce bâtiment mais probablement aussi la première photo de cet homme qui ressemble étrangement à un gentleman britannique. Cadrage parfait.

Hello Craig,
This building is really funky, and I like both the shape and the designs on it, but that gentleman in the foreground is also a star. :-) He looks like he came from another era and walked into the modern world.

Hello Craig
A very cool looking building indeed, and a fine shot. Incredible that this is the first shot of this building. In the two WS photos we get a good impression of the building and the architecture. In the main photo we get a very impressive view created by good use of the wide angle lens - like you`re standing underneath a UFO that just landed. The people, and espcecially the man in the foreground are nicely included. Excellent work:) TFS.
Greetings, Erling

Hello Craig
The long thin man at the bottom is fascinating. He looks a bit stretched out, a bit like WIlliam S. Burroughs, come to think of it. It really suits the scene, if you ask me.
Glad to read Zaragoza is doing so well. It used to be really off-beat, now it's become kind of hip.

Hi, Craig.
Great the three photos of this Zaragoza building that is the first time I see.
It has a really attractive design and gives a lot of game for the photographers, I want to go to visit this city, which I know very well, the older man with his club, gives a nice touch to the composition.
Wonderful colors in soft tones, excellent clarity and splendid luminosity.
Very well done. I like very much.
Have a nice day. All the best.
Luis.

Ciao Craig
Saluti

From the pictures of Zaragoaz on TE, I learnt that this city has several architecture sights with super-modern designs, Craig.
The two WS's are wonderful complementary to the main photo which your timing with the old man passing was perfect.
Good night at your side, a new day here,

Hello, Craig!
It's really impressive that in a city with so many photos here there is no one of such an interesting building with an imposing modern architecture! The POV you chose creates a very nice triangle on top of the image, and the details were captured with excellent light and sharpness! Wonderful job!

Hi Craig,
amazing collection of photos! I would never guess that they all present the very same building! The geometry seems to be quite different from each angle.
The old man standing near the structure adds a charming touch.
I know the feeling when you show something new on TE. Great satisfaction. However often I noticed people try to stay away from what they think is typical and as a result I have seen from some destinations hundreds of original photos and none showing something characteristic or typical. May be it is sometimes this urge to be original and creative which makes us to ignore some beautiful spots.
Excellent work!

Hello Craig,
A few years ago I visited Zaragoza together with a Spanish friend. We have not seen this building. Neither of us was aware of its existence.
You're surprised that there aren't any other pictures of the Cultural Centre on TE. For some reason it is not found in travel guides. I searched the location on google map and found that it's located on the city district north of the river, a district where I have indeed very little reminder.
Your report here shows us that the position taken gives very different pictures of the same building. From each point of view I get a completely different impression of the construction.
Surely a very interesting and excellent contribution on TE!
Best regards, Paul

Brilliant angle! And... did you pay this man to pose for you? He looks so perfectly placed in the frame.
Congratulations on getting the first shot of this building on TE (and before Malgo did... ;)
We have some ugly examples of Brutalism in London:

I liked the 2 WS, they show how beautiful and unusual are the shapes of this building, I liked the drawings in the walls adding more beauty to the result. anyway the main post is special because the shapes and the presence of the man, like posing for you. marvelous photo. TFS this building. when I visited the town it wasn't there.
take care

I will be going to Zaragoza soon, so I won’t miss it thanks to you :-)
