Photographer's Note
Less about a place, but more about the people belonging to it.
I struggled a lot with myself - shell I upload this, or not. Hard. Too hard? Even if - it's life.
So here it is, waiting for the comments...
Negreni - a village on the half way between Oradea and Cluj, in the West Carpathian Mountains. Where the valley of the river named Crisul Repede becames a bit larger, was place enough near/among the river to keep market.
I don't know if the tradition is continued till now, but there was once in a year a marketplace, three days long.
People - most from the surrounding villages, but also from over 100km - came with traditional products, most of them homemade. Also food, cereals, animals.
Cropped to keep the essential, a lot of work on scratches - old negativ
Brightness -14, intensity and contrast +12

Your old shots from Roamnia are so special, Janos. It's hard to understand the atmosphere here. A bit of the sixties, and a bit of.. I don't know what to say about the look of that man. The scene is hard to define, but it's so interesting and moody. Well done.

When I saw this for the first time I must think about the seventies,Woodstock, Vietnam, the paper of that time, Yes I like the photo, because, it let people think. It let me think, about the photo, good composition, good b&w, and good note,

I'm new to this site and it's only now that I have spotted your pictures, Janos. And I'm simply taken aback by the suggestiveness of your black-and-white pictures from Romania... They are simply fantastic piece of photojournalism.
What I like in particular is how you as a photographer seem to be one with the people you're taking pictures of... They do not pay attention to you, they do not pose for the camera. And that's exactly what makes your pictures so profoundly realistic. I'm truly impressed!

nice shot, great expressions, but i think some cropping is necessary here - this elbow.... but i know it is tricky.. very moody scene, great grainy B&W, the expression of the guy is priceless, good stuff

A powerful documentray shot. I am guilty of this too sometimes. This is a prized catch. The noise and the blur make it ven more compeling. Thanks.
