Inside the Fortifications

Here’s a photo from inside of the fortifications of Viscri Fortified Church with a closer look of the actual church. Viscri Fortified Church (Biserica fortificată din Viscri) was built by the ethnic German Transylvanian Saxons. It was built in the 13th century, originally as a Roman Catholic church, but it became Lutheran following the Reformation. It is one of the fortified churches which have been listed as a UNESO World Heritage Site.

A very curious fragment of building, the tower makes impression.

Hello Lars,
Well managed an upwards POV and included the stairscase upon the entrance, while showing the top of the tower above the heavy walls in front.

Hello Lars, the idea of a fortified church seems a little contradictory to me.
An excellent shot. I am always impressed at how you manage to get the top of every spire/ tower etc., in shot.
You have focused on some lovely features.

It was also well worth going inside Presner Fortified Castle. A good upward pov on the tower and the flowers add a splash of colour. Tfs!

Hi Lars,
This is quite a unique place. Maybe there are more similar structures in this region but they are probably characteristic for the region. This makes them perfect subject for postcards :)
Beautiful presentation here, the architecture deserved a closer look. The light was great and I see they have decorated the place nicely with colorful flowers here and there.

De tuin maakt een heel verzorgde indruk.
In dit mooie zicht opwaarts kunnen we ook enkele details van de versterkte kerk beter zien, zoals het houtwerk net onder de daken van de torens.
Mooie compositie. Genomen met een goed licht.
