Slimnic Citadel
These are the ruins of the citadel in the small town of Slimnic. There is not much information to be found about it. Apparently, it was once an important and large fortress, but fell into disuse in the 17th century. The caretakers of the ruins lives in the small house in the left hand side. We were welcome to climb the tower as well, but after just one flight of creaky, wooden stairs, I preferred to feel solid ground under my feet again.

Hej Lars,
Gert

Hi Lars,
It is actually quite charming to see someone living in this place. Ruins are quite photogenic as such and combination with signs of daily life works well.

Hello Lars, it is good that there is still so much of the citadel to see, even if it isn't quite as safe as it might be.
The composition is well balanced with the two towers off centre.
Excellent sharpness.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hello Lars,
So, is this privately owned? That would explain the non-militant look of the place.

Hello Lars,
Perhaps it is not advisable to climb old steps which are not in the best of condition! I wonder if you would be insured if they collapsed!
Anyway, you were probably better advised to stick to photography from ground level!
You have chosen a good viewpoint, using the old castle wall as an effective guide to the small house and then to the square tower. Your exposure shows the natural colours and sharp details.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Lars,
Nice presentation of the fortress. I like that the small tower and the large tower have matching roofs. Blooming trees added some extra decoration.
Lovely spot, I also like to search for info about less known places. I always admire Silvio who has info available for every little ruin.
Great reportage from Romania,
