Photographer's Note
I rarely post photos of details but I find this object very curious. I have no idea what is was for. It hangs on the walls of Neamt Monastery and looks very old.
The Neamţ Monastery is a Romanian Orthodox religious settlement, one of the oldest and most important of its kind in Romania. It was built in 14th century, and it is an example of medieval Moldavian architecture. A jewel of 15th century architecture, the church was built by Ştefan cel Mare and finished in the year when the Moldavian army won the battle against King John Albert (1497).
The monastery is located in north-eastern part of Romania, in Neamţ County. .
Sumptuous, with delicate colour effects, the monastery shows the maturity of the Moldavian architectonic style, which matured during Stefan cel Mare's period. The façade of the church is covered with the decoration characteristic of Stefan cel Mare's time: Gothic windows and friezes with enamelled disks, coloured in green, yellow and brown.

Good evening Malgorzata, This is a very interesting object. It must have some symbolic relationship to the church or the monastery. I am surprised there was no posting or some other note identifying the piece. Anyway it probably will be named by one of your viewers. So you have not left yet, I am sure you will be gone soon. Again enjoy your trip to Japan. I know Tokyo a bit and have been to Osaka and some other little towns near Tokyo. Go to the Imperial grounds, it is lovely. Regards, Bye. Roger

Hi Malgorzata,
A very interesting but weird detail. Looks like an octopus from Jules Verne's stories. I like the saturated colors, especially the bricks. Interesting and very well taken.
Have a beautiful day.

Hello Malgorzata,
Interesting photo detail!
This piece of metal("toaca" is the Romanian name) plays the role of a drum. There are two little hammers that the monks are using in order to hit this piece of metal in a very particular rithm before some religious services. In this way the other members of monastic community will know a new service will start soon. This sound has mistical simbolism as well, not only practical.
Usually "toaca" is made by wood, but can be made by iron.
Yon can listen here the very particular sound of this call:

Hello Malgorzata
Quite an interesting piece made with metal..looks like an outlandish insect spreading its legs & wings. Like the colours on the bricks at the top part of the frame!
Best Regards

Piêkny detal, ja bêd±c w Rumunii najwiêcej takich widzia³em na ¶cianach Sighisoary. By³em w monastyrze Neamt, ale ten jako¶ nie rzuci³ mi siê w oczy.
Pewnie masz lepszy zmys³ do wypatrywania takich cudeniek. Niesamowite kolory i perfekcyjna ostro¶æ.

Hi Malgorzata,
You had good eye to find this object of wrought iron hanging from the wall.
The close-up shows to us all its details under a good light, while its shade is projected on the stone.
Nice composition, with a good technical execution.
Best regards,
Josep

Hi Malgo,
It looks as a simple iron sign, hanging there - but artistic in virtue.
To know really what it doe's symbol - probably should ask the monks there...
On bg wall i see two layers of diff. type odf constraction's, for sure the lower layer older time than the upper layer.
A very clear image.
Ike
