Hotel of Ice, a photo from Sibiu, West

Photographer's Note

About half way between Brasov and Sibiu are the Fagaras Mountains and Balea Lake. From the carpark there is a cable car to the Ice Hotel at 2,034 metres. Here is the bar area. Just a wee bit chilly for me but definitely worth a look. In early Winter the previous years sculptures are recycled and remolded into new shapes with water / ice from Balea Lake. I preferred a warm hotel room in Brasov. I tried adding and subtracting colours but it just made it worse so I reversed it. Here's a wider angled view I found on the Romania Tour Store website:

Hello Chris,
It's funny to see a fridge in the bar of an ice hotel. Maybe it's used to make sure the drinks don't freeze. There are now ice hotels in several countries, but I think the first one was in Jukkasjдrvi in northern Sweden. I would also prefer a nice and warm hotel any time.

I knew about an ice hotel somewhere in Scandinavia, but hadn't heard of one in Romania. Good capture with this bar. I like the red lights and colours as well.

I guess it would be too cold to get sme sleep in this ice-hotel... but the work has good artistic touchs.

Fascinating little bar made of ice. I like those stools with sheep wool. Red lit details add colour. I have never been in such a place, and I'm surprised to read that this is in Romania.

this is a curious hotel in fact. maybe not comfortable, but a different experience. I remember the hotel made of salt I visited in Bolivia.

I had heard about this! Do people really stay here? If so, do they sleep on regular mattresses or just plain ice, as in "on the rocks?"
