Group in Group, a photo from Cluj, West

Diving again back in the past.

Negreni - a village on the half way between Oradea and Cluj, in the West Carpathian Mountains.
I don't know if the tradition is continued till now, but there was once in a year a marketplace.
People - most from the surrounding villages, but also from over 100km - came with traditional products, most of them homemade. Also food, cereals, animals. Three days long.
It takes place in the valley of the river called Crisul Repede, right near to it.

On the photo there are gypsy people.

Taken with a russian camera named FED II, with a "shotgun" 350mm teleobjectiv from Zenit.

Sorry for the quality, it's a scratched and overscratched negativ for over 20 years.

Pitty about the bad quality, but I think this photo worth it. I tried to improve it just by cropping the upper noisy part and the lower part with the blurred man's face.
I like this very busy, full of activty photo.

The noise works for me here. I think, it adds to a pic taken 25 years ago. I would be tempted to crop the pic even more narrow and to clone out the head at the right bottom. Nice souvenir.

Very interesting 'documentary' style photo, I'm glad you posted it. The scratches aren't too bad, and you could probably get rid of most of them in post-processing if you had time. Only small comment is I would like to be able to see more of their faces, most of them have their backs turned.

You captured a moment in time here. Frankly, I don't think there would be much change since you took this picture. I was in Romania, Cluj (Kolozsvar), too just a couple of years ago. Unfortunatley any changes are for the worse. The beauty of digital manipulation is that you can now fix the quality by cloning out scratches. There are some great faces here. It would be interesting to isolate them out by cropping to make several pictures.
