Photographer's Note
Usually Caryatids are ancient and later classical architectural supports disguised as statues, usually of beautiful women. Men are sorely underrepresented- and when they appear, they are called atlas ( if several, atlantes ) or telamon (telamones if they're a bunch 'of'em, like the Ramones ).
This particular telamon had a friend or colleague, a much younger version, maybe a son - and they both hold up the frontispiece of an old bank building in downtown Bucharest. The building itself is a fairly recent build (only 150 years or thereabouts, Neo-classical architecture at its finest) but the Caryatids and Telamones are as old as early Etruscan temples.
So- gender equality! We want more Telamones. The Telamones- a new classic-punk hybrid band?
