Photographer's Note

Obidos is a medieval walled town (vila) of around 3,100 inhabitants in the district of Leiria, Portugal. It is the seat of the municipality of the same name.

The name of the town derives from the Latin term oppidum, meaning "citadel", or "fortified city". The area was taken from the Moors in 1148, and the town received its first charter in 1195, under the reign of Sancho I.

The concelho has an extent of 142.17 kmІ in area and 10,875 inhabitants (2001). It is bounded in the northeast and east by Caldas da Rainha, in the south by Bombarral, in the southeast by Lourinhг, in the west by Peniche and in the northwest by the Atlantic Ocean. The city is also home to the prestigious Praia D'el Rey golf complex, one of the top golf resorts in Europe.

Hi Marcelo, brilliant expressions, the old guy on the left is fabulous, it looks as though the guy in the middle is moving in on the others girl, the perfect B/W photo,great POV, there is alot of years in this shot, kind regards Wilson.

Й uma foto muito bonita e que mostra bem uma parte da populaзгo portuguesa que ainda vive nas vilas e aldeias de Portugal. Trкs velhotes com expressхes diferentes certamente a apanhar o fresco do dia а porta da Igreja. Conheзo muito bem Уbidos e posso dizer que й uma das mais belas vilas de Portugal.

os velhinhos sentados na escada tambйm envelhecida nos remetem a um certo ar de mansuetude e reflexгo. A escolha para o P&B tambйm foi muito feliz.

Olб Marcelo, fazia tempo que nгo via fotos suas aqui. Vi ainda pouco um comentбrio seu numa foto aqui no Te e vim ver se tinha alguma foto nova. Foto legal essa, o primeiro homem com cara emburrada tб engraзa. Mas porque usou 1/10s? era muito escuro o local ou pretendia algum efeito? Isso que ocasionou o rosto mexido do homem do meio.

Boa escolha por P&B.

Umda foto bem interessante com uma imagem ainda vista em vilas e cidades interioranas. Esta calma, este tempo que se tem ainda, para simplismente ver a vida passar...

Oi Marcelo,

Que sansacional. Capturou bem o espirito de pequena vila com seus habitantes simpaticos, a vida que passa lentamente na beira das calcadas. O enquadramento do trio esta perfeito e a expressao do solitario a esquerda e impagavel. Preto e branco foi bem escolhido p o tema.

Oi Marcelo, eu ja vi inumeras fotos de Obidos em TE, mas nenhuma com esta inclusao das pessoas que vivem nesta aldeia. O P&B realca bastante o elemento medieval e a textura ficou excelentement realcado com esta escolha. Os carateres estao bem retratados e dao ideia de tempos passados.

Oi Marcelo. Now, there's something very, very portuguese in these three fellows. I love their expressions and the simple way you portrayed them, with no perspective, neither gimmicks of any sort in terms of composition. Your black & white conversion is perhaps lacking some punch, but the scene is worthy in itself. Good work.

Olб Marcelo, apesar da luminosidade nгo estar perfeita, gosto do enquadramento destes 3 personagens sentados na escadaria do que parece ser a entrada de uma igreja. Й uma cena bastante tнpica de tantas vilas Portuguesas ou mesmo centros histуricos de cidades maiores. Provavelmente estгo a queixar-se da vida. O tipo da esquerda atй estб amuado e jб nem quer conversar :)
