Photographer's Note
I have advertised under my previous photo that I will share with you my adventure from the Praia do Beliche (in this photo).
The beach was amazing. The sand so clean and for most of the time we were with my wife alone there. The wind was quite strong but the waves didn't appear too dangerous.
After playing in the water for a while, I was standing in the water maybe just three steps into the ocean but I was looking away from the ocean to my wife who was standing further on the beach.
Suddenly, her face expression changed, she looked at me with a great fear in her eyes, which I don't remember seeing on her face ever before or after that day. She started to shout: "Run, run!"
I didn't see anything but I started to run. Well actually a strange thing happened: I tried to run, to raise my leg, but I had a feeling as if something was pulling my legs with a great force back to the ocean. It pulled me in and shortly after I was thrown, with an equally strong force, first out in the air and then down into the ground. It felt as if something tried to eat me but decided to spit me out. My head scratched the ground under water with a great force. Luckily, I just had a scratch on my head, and I lost my favourite hat. But I could not stop thinking what would be if my body was thrown under a slightly different angle. I could have ended up with a neck snapped so easily. I am 186 cm tall. The wave must have been higher than that. I felt like a little toy, completely helpless against the forces of nature. This surely taught me some to have respect for the waves.

Hello Mariusz, you were fortunate to be able to survive and tell us the tale. One has to remember that this is the Atlantic, often unpredictable.
Those waves belie their strength.
Good capture as the foaming wave breaks on the shore.
Thanks for sharing.
Kind regards, Jean.

Simple and so beautiful, Mariusz.
How well you allocated the picture from sea to rocks and sane.
The coming waves added dynamism to the outcome, cheers.
What a story...
Good afternoon,

Hi Mariusz
Sounds like Portsea backbeach on the Mornington Peninsula south of Melbourne. The surf there is very rough & dangerous sometimes, and I preferred to swim in the rock pools at low tide and mid tide. Great colour and saturation with good sharpness. Tfs!

Hello Mariusz,
The view of the sea and the beach looks so peaceful here, so no wonder you weren't expecting any life-threatening waves coming your way! The rocks and cliffs look beautiful in the bright light.

Hi Mariusz, bad adventure in such a beautiful sea, you were lucky but next time be more careful, however these are things that happen during travels, I was gored by a zebu and flew in the air without consequences in Madagascar..ahaha..la photo is obviously gorgeous as always and needs no further comment. Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

Hello Mariusz,
I know that the Atlantic waters are not the same as the Mediterranean. This is also the case in countries that have coasts on both, such as France and Spain.
I also looked again at the map where the beach of Beliche is located.
It is difficult to tell whether this is the south coast or the west coast of Portugal. The beach of Beliche is just on that southwestern point of the country, located between two capes. Perhaps that tip of Portugal is the most rambunctious? As far as winds go, that was certainly the case the one time I was in Sagres.
You travelled around in Portugal. Have you had the experience that the waters on its south coast are calmer than those on the west side of the country? I know this is what some think but in both cases it concerns the Atlantic Ocean.
Fortunately, it turned out well for you.
In the photo you show here, the ocean appears to be calm, but looks can be deceiving.
Nice composition with the diagonal lines of the beach and the wave. Wonderful and impressive cliffs in the distance.
Best regards, Paul

Hello Mariusz
Such sweet and calm scene in the picture, such a horrid tale in the note. That's quite a contrast! Glad you survived and lived to tell the tale! Big cheers from here!

Hello Mariusz,
What a frightening experience!
I can imagine the emotions that were rushing through your mind as you were thrust to floor! The sea can be a violent adversary!
Was this just a one-off wave, or did this type of thing happen regularly? Were there warning signs on the beach?
I wonder if this happened because of its location, close to the tip of the land.
Anyway, your photograph of the scene is beautiful!
It looks beautiful and benign!
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Lep pogled, interesantan i dobar tekst ...

marvelous use of the like of the waves (so peaceful here)while we have the lines of the capes ahead. excellent use of elements and a sense of movement.
yes, sometimes in beaches with deep areas near of the sand we can see these dangerous waves coming faster than we can imagine. I don't know how to swim and because this I am ever taking sea bath in areas where the water beats my belly only, after that limit I feel in danger. in the last I was few weeks ago the sea was furious and dangerous, but I enjoyed it and it was ever wanting to hit me strong. yes, a minute and everything can be wrong.
take care

Hi Mariusz
It doesn't look like a beach for high waves - it must have been a freak one. A good thing that you survived with the main injury being to your pride. Fortunately you weren't at Little Bay in Sydney a few days ago when a shark took an English swimmer (fatal).
An excellent photo with the water looking so calm.
cheers

Hello Mariusz.
Your note is very interesting and certainly an experience not to forget, that with the sea all precautions are few, luckily everything was a scare.
The beach is ideal with that fine sand and the rocks of the cliff that we see in the background have some beautiful color tones, it is in the line of foam that is sea it breaks with some force on the beach and the worst are the beaches where it tends to throw inside.n magnificent color that gives a lot of chromatic richness to the image.
Very good management of lighting and sharpness.
Well done. I like.
I wish you a pleasant week.
Very best regards.
Luis.

wow quite a story, an experience richer and a story to tell.
The image you show us here does nothing but invites us in , the waves look so inviting gently lapping the shore. Good colours and light
