The strong light created many problems controlling the illuminated areas.

Aveiro is a delightful town in central Portugal, with around 60 thousand inhabitants.

This is an ancient town, that already existed even before the formation of the Portuguese nationality in the 12th century. The privileged geographic location, next to the Ria de Aveiro, the salt-pits (valuable for the conservation of foods), fishing and the maritime commerce, lead all over the centuries to the population fixation.

The privileged conditions of the population were bunged in the end of the 16th century, when the canal that links the ria to the ocean was closed, blocking the Port use and causing the waters stagnation. This last for about two centuries, leading to a big population decrease.

In the beginning of the 19th century the works orientated by the French Engineer Reinaldo Oudinot and by the Portuguese Engineer Luнs Gomes de Carvalho, resolve the issue in only two months.

Ria de Aveiro is nowadays the result of the retreat of the sea, with the formation of coastal strips.

Hi Aires,
beautiful place for a walk. I like the charming architecture of the palace and its reflection.Great sky, the strong contrasts give it a winter feeling.
The bank on the right makes a nice line.
The answer to your dilemma would be probably a slight HDR enhancement it would surely equilibrate the illumination better.
Also the polarizing filters tend to heavily enhance the contrast which in this case could have caused a problem. I am refraining from using PL filter more and more. It makes a wonderful sky but somehow often making the contrast unbearable.
But your photo is excellent. I am just sharing my thoughts.

a wonderfully dramatic and clever composition. Yes the light is well controlled and so is the sharpness, DOF and clarity. A stunning image, well taken!

Excellent managment of this difficult light with beautiful contrast nad especillay surperb reflections in the water. This beautiful edifice is too well off-centred on the left. On the right, the vived colors, green and red, arise very well.

Hello Aires,
You have managed the difficult light very well. I like the point of view with the quayside on the right being used to draw the viewer into the scene whilst giving full rein to the lovely foreground building and its reflection. Good saturated colours.

Effectivement, la lumiиre t'as crйй quelques problиmes, ce qui fait que les passants restent dans l'ombre, mais le reflкt est impeccable quoique le bвtiment est un peu croche.

Yes, the light was't easy to control but I think you managed very well. The buildings along the canal and the passengers are in the dark but all attention goes to the palace with the soft pink facade and its wonderful reflection in the water.
It's a very beautiful architecture picture with an excellent composition.

Hi Aires,
It does looks like a delightful place to visit, Beautiful pastel colors of the building, so much details to appreciate, the roof of the house has wave and poster of people walking around, like so manage iamges merge together. Overall a little too strong contrast, some part are all in black and the poeple are in silhouette, but the building is in perfect condition.

Hi Aires,
beautiful and fascinating the reflections of the building on the calmly waters.Really the dark areas in contrast with the well illuminated facade of the building, must was difficult to be controlled.

yes, i certainly do like this alot.
and its not just because of the rich water reflections, its also because of the concrete tall walkway to the right, and the colorful tops of the adjacent buildings.
