Photographer's Note
Life is not easy...
Linhares is a village situated in Estrela mountain and it´s very typical... houses are constructed with stone and just old people are living there!
I hope you like this view...

A very special ambience you've rendered here Carlos. I really like your point of view by putting the main subject in the bottom right angle. The light behind these men increases their silhouette. A dramatical aspect given by the sepia tones and the vertical frame. Very well done.

The vertical composition was ideally chosen for this one, Spoony, to not only show off the stairs and veranda of the old building, but also to use them as a device for framing the people below. I understand your choice of sepia to suggest an old feel and to convey some of the hardships of living in a mountain village, but I think this would have worked equally well in color (and perhaps resulted in a more upbeat mood). Nice work.

Hi Carlos, the old stairs in white stones, I am normally no black and white supporter, but this image is beautiful, the silhouette of the three people its excellent, nice composition.

I love the atmosphere and the feeling in this photo Carlos. It reminds me the same conditions in mountain villages of Greece...The sepia tone is fitting excellent giving the impression of an old photo. The composition is very pleasant as it is the softness of the photo...Very well done!

Wow, I like this shot. Almost like from an old movie. Very pictoresque with this donkey in the pathway. I like the colors and your composition. Fantastic.

An antique scene, the mood and colour you've chosen, the details of the stairs and balcony and of course, these men and the donkey, it's so nice, well done this pic, Mr. Ferreira !

Hi Carlos
Good choice for b&w. Excellent tonal range, although I would increase contrast a little in some parts of the image. eg the left & top. The sepia like tone conveys a feeling of age, which suits the image.

This is a neat play of scale here. The way it looks is that the house is gigantic built for a giant and these are little people below. At the same time it looks like the mule is holding up not only the load on its back but also the giant's house above. I also like the strong path we have through this up toward you and then around and up the stairs and across. Perhaps the contrast is low as it seems a bit flat. It's a nice sepia, though and well seen and photographed.

Bonjour Carlos,
Excellent, Carlos.

the composition is very nice here...
the message is clear
your trademark sepia tone works quite well here
have you ever considered trying out the kind of tones in ara guler's photographs??
take care

Composizione poco appariscente, ma di un grandissimo ralismo e valore artistico!! Ottima la scelta del seppiato scuro, aggiunge un po' di crudezza a questo fantastico quadro d'altri tempi!!!

The sepia / BW image in combination with the motif give us a feeling of a photo taken long time ago - thanks Carlos - nice work you present as usual.

Leonor
