At sunset..., a photo from Setubal, South

Photographer's Note

Situated a few kilometres far from Alcбcer do Sal, Carrasqueira is a small but really well known village (specially among photographers), thanks to its quay formed by many walkways built on irregular wooden stilts, that has been built in the 50's/60's of the 20th century, to allow fishermen to reach their boats during the high and also during the low tide. This photo has been taken during the high tide and this walkway had been destroyed by the waves during the winter.

you have composed the shot beautifully with the lovely sun lit poles leading nicely through the frame to a gorgeous sun set.

Beautiful light and colours in this expertly composed photograph. The near post angling across the frame holds the left of the image and creates interesting V-shapes. Good work.

Hello Ana,

This is an irresistible shot. The canes, standing in the water, make good focal images and leads from the f/g towards the horizon. The soft light gives form and movement to the lapping waves, whilst the warm sky adds to the tranquillity of the mood.

le tue foto lasciano sempre il segno, non sono mai banali e spesso sono motivo di riflessione sulla temporaneitа delle cose umane.
Cosм come avviene per le porte corrose dagli elementi atmosferici, questo residuo semidistrutto di passerella colpisce per l'abbandono al quale esso sembra destinato. L'inverno ha infierito su di esso riducendolo ad un inutile scheletro. ma non si notano segni di un qualche tentativo di ricostruzione.
Forse dopo la tua foto qualche pescatore avrа passato del tempo a cercare di ricostruirlo o forse la sua struttura si sarа ulteriormente deteriorata.
Di certo al tramonto del sole si unisce anche il tramonto di quella che era una struttura bella ed utile e che che ora appare destinata a finire sotto il livello del mare, come il sole al termine della sua calata.
Complimenti per questa bella ripresa ricca di particolari significati, oltre che eccellente dal punto di vista tecnico.

Hello Ana,
a very fine picture, an unusual and atmospheric minimal scenery presented superbly through a simple and elegant composition in a well considered vertical frame. I love the definition of all the graphical elements that compose this construction. There's great sense of depth and perspective and the light creates some very delightful effects on the poles. The warm hues reflect a moody and delicious warm light but what's really captivating for me is the almost violet tone that prevails in the frame as well as the texture and motion of the sea. Hello Ana,

Well composed using the rule of thirds and a wise choice using a vertical format. Good sharpness and a lovely warm cold color contrast between the blue and pink hued sunset colors in the sky, with good repetition of the poles, which also add a graphic element. Tfs!

Hello Ana,

I like this one with the sun behind and illuminated the whole scene very nicely with the sunset color or warm glow and purple. The vertical format really adds depth to the whole scene. I like the different layers of wooden poles Excellent image with good colors and detials.

Pretty atmosphere from foreground right up to the glowing horizon in delicious colours together merged beautifully as a whole. The mix of bluieish tone in the sky is good adding the extra colour, the exposure is so nicely managed turn the shot to a pleasing shot. Well done, TFS

Hi Ana,

A pity that the walkway has been destroyed during the winter, rendering it useless...but its remains have at least made for an intriguing photo opportunity. I really like how you've put this together, using a prominent post in the immediate foreground which then leads the eye to the right, and then along the outstretched remains as they make their way towards the horizon line.

Most impressive though is the timing, the soft light is amazing and sets a most pleasant tone and as created strong colors in both the water and sky. A smart choice of vertical layout. A lovely result all around. :) Have a great day ahead.
