Photographer's Note

The Palace of Sintra (Portuguese: Palбcio Nacional de Sintra), also called Town Palace (Palбcio da Vila) is located in the town centre of Sintra.

It is the best-preserved medieval royal residence in Portugal, being inhabited more or less continuously from at least the early 15th century to the late 19th century. It is a significant tourist attraction, and is part of the cultural landscape of Sintra, a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site. Nowadays, it is a museum.

Hello Stephen,

So, a close-up of the castle but well worth the wait!
It's a fine, white building, with lots of interesting levels, shapes and decorative adornments.
It is nicely angled across the frame to help give us an indication of it extent, whilst the inclusion of the figures clarifies its scale.
That blue sky makes a great background to the white castle.

Great to see the palace on the right hand side next to the view of the wide square and many visitors at left. The light was wonderful and you handled the exposure of the white walls so well. Great composition too, which is very well-balanced.

very cool shot here, the tiny people look...well..tiny! you couldn't have asked for a better day with that blue sky and wispy clouds. the Tall walls dominate the frame and really do look powerful - as does the stark white against the blues.

I like these whitewashed facades without a speck of dirt. The occasional stripes of yellow and the red windows provide a nice break from monotony.
