Heart, a photo from Lisboa, South

Photographer's Note

Yesterday was the last day of the International Biennale on the Theme of Light, in Lisbon, Luzboa
Several art projects were spread along 4 kms of Lisbon streets. To signal the event, the street lamps had colorfull lighting instead of the regular white. The streets chosen were of old neighberhoods, Bairro Alto (red), Baixa (green) and Alfama (blue).
This was the beginning of the red one in Prнncipe Real, Bairro Alto. In the center of the esplanade, this red instalation (named heart) brought a new life to the square.

Some people begin the night here, drinking some beers, before going to the bars and discos of Bairro Alto.
In the background, visitors of the event gather around the instalation, while standing in line to get a bus ticket, to take part in another event of the bienalle.

Estб muito gira a tua foto. Hoje fazem coisas culturais e artisticas (?) que por vezes me deixam a pensar na razгo de existir. Talvez seja um desses pensamentos que vai na cabeзa da pessoa do lado esquerdo. Alйm de dar luz ao largo, para que serve? Gosto tambйm do movimento que conseguiste dar а imagem. Finalmente, para ter sido tirada sem tripй, ficou excelente.

I was there in Barrio Alto, is a nice place with many people, food discos, interesting and beuaty place.

I like the attitude of this guy, eachone in his owns bussines, I like the reflectionn of the glasses and table. The ligth in the background are so interesting I would like to be there.

Curioso. Gostaria de ter ido ver esta iniciativa. Esperava que uma coisa deste gйnero fosse durante as festas da cidade, em Junho, mas tudo bem, й sempre oportuno.
Como reportagem, gosto de ver a foto. Como foto em si, nгo й do tipo que prefiro. Estб um bocadinho a dar para o escuro, mal se vкem as pessoas atrбs.

Hi Ricardo,
it is amazing that you got so sharp people during this long exposure. The composition is very interesting and the red light in the middle makes it really strange. Both in front seem to be a bit away from the light but as the desk they are sitting on is clearly showing the short distance my eye gets disturbed. I can not put the pieces together. That is not to be understood as bad - only a description of the impact to me.
Now I found it - both of them turned their heads a bit - the red lightning around their heads and partly shoulders.

Interessante esta foto.
Esse "emaranhado" de luzes cria um efeito grбfico giro.
E os dois homens sentados na esplanada num momento de "relax" tornam a composiзгo ainda melhor.
Gosto dos relfexos das luzes na mesa.
Por acaso tenho pena de nгo ter ido dar uma espreitadela a este evento.
Sу estiveste na zona vermelha, ou foste esptreitar as outras tambйm??

This mrning I open my eyes with light, thanks to this picture, which is so different of what we see all the time here.
You managed the light well and it looks as if the picture has become an installation itself.
Now, I know that you are very much excited at the eve of the big departure for which I wish you much success and luck: Good light and pictures out of this world.

You Lisboa piece of life is "sympathique" and the artist has doen well here with this ground and trees decoration. The framing is quite good, i may be would have been a bit lower in POV just to have the persons here more "sitting", but the idea to have them is front of the subject is nice and giving a good mood and a nice idea of the latin life at night and in this place.

I like the incongruity of these two fellows lounging about, while in the background there is this incredible myriad of lights and vivid colour. The exposure level is just right, as the men are only partly silhouetted. The framing and cropping is tight. I agree with Gerrit's comment about the analogy to sitting at a campfire. Well captured, Ricardo.

Wow, very unusual, Ricardo. I couldn't work out what this was from the thumbnail but it looked impressive. Good sharpness for a 1/3 sec exposure. I like the almost surreal feel to it. Cheers . . . David

What makes me like the shot is the backdrop of the asymmetrical lights, almost zigzig in pattern and the two gentlement enjoying a peaceful moment or discussion. The small touch of the halo effect around the head is also pretty interesting. A nice one my friend
