Photographer's Note

Cascais is a coastal town and a municipality in Portugal, 30 kilometres (19 miles) west of Lisbon in area known as the Portuguese Riviera. It is a cosmopolitan suburb of the Portuguese capital and one of the richest municipalities in Portugal.

The population in 2011 was 206,479, in an area of 97.40 square kilometres. The former fishing village gained fame as a resort for Portugal's royal family in the late 19th century and early 20th century. Nowadays, it is a popular holiday destination for both Portuguese and foreign tourists.

Hello Stephen,

Though I like the overall impression of your photograph, it is actually the sky the interested the most! There appears to be a hub behind the far buildings which then spans out, like sparks from a spinning wheel.

The distance between the beach and the horizon is creating depth. The point of view is showing the details of the beach and of the houses. The cloudy sky is givin g a good contrast to the colors of the picture. Have a nice day.

This is a nice view of the harbor. The sky was overcast on this January day, but that is better than snow on a mid-March day (as it was doing this morning here).
