Photographer's Note

This lovely palace is now an Museum.
The Museum Condes de Castro Guimarгes, the former "Torre de S. Sebastiгo", was built in 1900 by Jorge O'Neill. A classic example of "summer architecture", the building features ecletic elements, inviting visitors to enter a kingdom of fantasy and wonder celebrated in this XIXth century revival of the era of romance.

In 1910, the Count Manuel de Castro Guimarгes aquires the house and after is dead (1927) donated his state, including his garden, to the people of Cascais. His desire was to built an art museum and a public library. The museum opened on July 12, 1931.

The Museum Condes de Castro Guimarгes collection includes significant national and international paintings, furniture, porcelain and jewellery. Another important part of museum collection is the Crуnica de El-Rei D. afonso Henriques (Chronicle of King Afonso Henriques) (1505) by Duarte Galvгo, whose Prologue page includes artwork by the miniaturistAntуnio d'Ollanda.

HI Kik,i like a lot night pics,and when the spectacle is an incredible architechture like that,it's better...ehhee....magnificent capture of this castle made in a very curious style and very well preserved,the quality of the pic is wonderful,the details in the large version of BetaTE are a pleasure for my eyes.Have a nice weekend and thanks,Luciano

This looks like something from a fairy tale that fires my imagination! You've done well to get great dof and the exposure is spot on - every detail visible with excellent colour rendition, warem tones and superb contrast. A stand out night shot that oozes the atmosphere. Well done, Congrats

Een erg mooie nachtopname. Licht is mooi uitgebalanceerd, nergens te veel of te weinig. Ook het pikzwarte van de nacht erom heen vind ik erg geslaagd.

the black areas surrounding the palace really makes the scene work, that contrast is so important.
excellent sharpness and clarity too, nothing to complain about with this one.

Hello Kik,
A stunning night shiot of the beautiful Cascais palace, with excellent handling the light on canera settings.
Contrast against the dark sky is immaculate.
The place is most intriguing, but when we were there on 10/2010 - it was a pouring rainy day.

"fairytale" is what I thought as soon as I saw the thumbnail picture in your gallery and before reading your title. The close, upward, nocturnal view of the well-lit palace is very attractive. You managed to make it stand out in the dark environment wonderfully, retaining superb details and colours as well as atmospheric shadows.
