The Ceira River runs along the boundary of the village, here the local Council have built a bar, barbecue and picnic facilities. Every summer they bring in beach sand to place along the river for swimming. Varzea Pequena (little fertile valley) is a 5 minute drive to the town of Gois. Gois is a 45 minute drive from the University city of Coimbra and 2¼ hr drive from Porto and Lisbon Airports. The area is rich in history with numerous historical places of interest to visit.
