Photographer's Note
This freight car has been placed here to commemorate the Jews deported from Hungary who were murdered by German Nazis in the Auschwitz-Birkenau death camp. More than 400.000 Jewish men, women and children were deported from Hungary in similar freight cars, in more than 100 transports during the spring and summer of 1944. On arrival, most of them were murdered in the gas chambers here.

Lukasz
An unusual view of this arresting place.
It neatly combines two major themes of the terrible times there, the transport, and the formidable gateway/guardhouse.
The snow only adds to the melancholia of the place.
The effect of the depth of field, the ever-present buildings looming over the lives of the inhabitants is very effective.
( I think I might have cloned out the modern day red plastic in your foreground? I offer you a WS )

Hi Lukasz
evocative and chilling imagery in every sense of the word and emotion. A perfect and sensitive composition. The cold is both palpable and haunting. Executed flawlessly and presented powerfully. A painful reminder of a dark time.
Regards - Brian.
