Sculpture by Salvador Dali, a photo from Dolnoslaskie, West

Photographer's Note

Wroclaw's tallest building, the brand new Sky Tower skyscraper, will be soon home to Profile of Time, a large sculpture by legendary Spanish surrealist artist Salvador Dali. The sculpture once stood in Kew Gardens in London, England, but had been on display in Wroclaw's Arkady Wroclawskie shopping centre since 2008.

Profile of Time is a bronze sculpture based on one of Dali's most famous surrealist paintings - The Persistence of Memory. It shows a clock seemingly melting on a tree branch.

The sculpture, worth over $1 million US, it is on display in front of the entrance to Sky Tower's shopping centre in the southern part of central Wroclaw.

Another intersting statue for new arts imge!
Perfect composition and tight framework as usual!
I wonder why we have such kind of statue in Japan. Maybe lack of humor sense or too much sereious for everthing. Anyway always clear and sharp image too. Thank you for your sharing with finest work and have a good Friday!

Hello Barbara,

I've always liked Salvador Dali, not necessarily for his strange art, as much as his quirky personality. Last December for New Year's I had submitted the photo, Ushering in 2012, which you've critiqued. But I actually got to meet him, and have dinner with him one evening while I was a university student. One of my favorite YouTube is the fifty-year old television programs, What's My Line. Incidentally, did you communicate at all with Craig McIntosh (Macjake) who recently visited Wroclaw?

The photograph is crisp and sharp. The clarity and details highlights the sculpture. Interesting that is has been placed in front of the tall shopping centre ..
Perhaps "time and money" melting away while shopping is true and significant.

sztuka i nowoczesna architektura.Znakomite polaczenie i uzupelnienie.Chyba czesto spotykane w Stanach(przynajmniej w Chicago widzialem wiele interesujacych rzezb czy instalacji artystycznych w poblizu wiezowcow).Sama rzezba,jak i twoje wykonanie sa wspaniale.W 100% wykorzystalas znakomite swiatlo,tak aby odtworzyc jak najlepiej wszystkie szczegoly dziela Salvatora Dali.Do tego bardzo podobaja mi sie subtelne,ale jednak przykuwajace nasza uwage odbicia w szklanej fasadzie Sky Tower.Piekna praca.

Before opened, I thought this was a steak left on the skewer... Now admiting, Barbara, this is the famous Dali composition displayed.
Not argueing about artistic styles, the picture has good texture and contrast to the modern edifice on BG.

Czesc Barbara,
super ciekawa rzezba. Nie mialem pojecia ze mozna ja ogladac we Wroclawiu. Twoj reportaz z tego miasta jest pelen ciekawostek. Bardzo ladnie zaprezentowalas ja tutaj. Nawet the daszek nad wejsciem dodaje pewnego geometrycznego smaku kompozycji.

This sculpture would look so cool in my living room, but I'm a little short on cash, somewhere around 1 million dollars...........LOL

Barbara, as always you've presented another superb photo, and I have a soft spot for Salvador, so this photo caught my eye quickly. I guess it's true when they say there's a fine line between being a genius and being insane.

I'll try to get back to checking out your photos, but I'm still having issues, as you can imagine...great job here Barb!!
