Photographer's Note
Driver on the photo is Janusz Kulig. He's 3 times Polish Rally Champion, Slovakian Rally Champion, European Rally V-ce Chamion.
He was born in Poland, near to Crakov, and becouse he loved what he was doing from no-one he became a star (altough he never acted like one). He was loved by thousands of rally nuts, not only in his country. Thats why some use to say he was lucky. In 2001 he had a big shunt at 170 km/h fighting for victory in Rally of Poland. He was unhurt...
On 13 of february 2004 he was driving home from his everydays work. He died hit by train on railway crossing becouse gates were not closed. He left his few years old dother, pregnant wife, his fans, friends and rivals...
Yestarday was exactly a year since he left us..altough some say he will always be alive...

Marek,
Great capture here. The photo has great composition and brings out the speed and danger of the sport of rally racing. You're note is very informative and its sad to hear about Janusz. Great photo, thanks for sharing.

Stunning photo, and very interesting sad note. I hadn't heard of that accident. Surely a very rare one, I thought if things went wrong with crossing gates, the defualting settings are to close them. Are there non-auto crossing gates in Poland. What I remember seeing are either normal auto ones, or no gates at all, or even lights on some minor slow lines. The one through Mikolijki for instance.

Very nice tribute Marek and a fine photo as well. Welcome to TE.
Another new member comes with an illustrious history as a photographer of auto racing. You may wish to visit his archive of photos taken during the fifties and sixties. They are excellent.
You capture great energy here, with splashing water and mist. You appear to be using an orange filter, which I'm not wild about for this image. Simple black and white without filter would work for me, or perhaps a duotone with a deep brown cast. I appreciate that such are very personal choices, however. I like this work and look forward to other images you bring to the board. Enjoy yourself!

Nice shot Marek.
You've captured the action well! Interesting choice for black and white with the availablity of all the colors on the car (advertising etc.).
Good clarity, and composition. Too bad the car in behind was not more to the left, just inside of the frame.
All 'round a good shot!
Cheers,
- Dan

Nice capture of the action !
The water gives the feeling of speed. The colours are great ! Looks like anthology pics. And, besides, the car lights make it feel agressive: we feel that the driver is doing all his best to be the winner.
Thanks, Youssef.
