Passing away III, a photo from Malopolskie, East

Photographer's Note

Continuing the theme of Passing away. My first foto was considered very sad and it really was. So in second and third shot I'm trying to discover some optimistic features.

Many times when I look at people in age I wonder how they looked when they were young and beautiful, falling in love, getting married, feeling all the joy and sorrows of life. I think I can see These excellent past experiences in that face.

I do volunteer work with folks preparing for their death. During my training for this work, I visited a residential hospice run by San Francisco Zen Hospice, where every resident brought photos of themselves and their families when they were younger. It was remarkable to observe the wrinkled face of a person facing their death next to a photo of that person young and vital. It is a profound teaching to recognize the old person in the child before us, and the child in the old person before us. This is, quite truthfully, the path we each must travel as human beings. It is not for the faint of heart...

This is a wonderful image Piotr, very intimate with her soft eyes gazing at you as you take the photo. I've already expressed myself about your tight crops so I'll say no more. Looking at this theme your intention is clear. You wish to bring us close to this reality, something that I applaud. Your technical skills are first rate. This is fine work. Thank you.

Simply beautiful, Piotr. Am happy to have found your pictures. This face says a lot, a lot about life and love to me too. A very beautiful, warm face, and your framing makes it also beatuiful in its focus.
