Photographer's Note

This was taken from the shore of Lake Loen, where we were camping overnight.

I have used contrast masking, neat image and modest sharpening.

I just love pictures like this! The setting is so tranquil and you've captured some wonderful glow in the sky with the rainbow.

Beatiful rainbow, lovely colour on the boat. A slight change in position to the left while taking the photograph, would move the rainbow nearer a fifth node and place the boat on a third, improving the apeal of your picture. This is a shot that would have benefitted from a landscape format.

Very nice colors and scene, but the boat is a little bit too centered. I like the vertical continuity sky->mountains->trees->lake that arises thanks to the portrait format.

Brilliant! Composition works perfectly and everything is deeply interacting. One man and three children looking at the rainbow from the boat conveys a fairy tale atmosphere here. You also have everything in the landscape (sky, snow, sun, forest texture, water, reflections...) to make a beautiful picture, and you gathered these elements very well! Beautiful light on the boat too.

The beautiful link between water and the mountains : the sky, using its most beautiful artefact, a rainbow...

Nature is really astounding especially when a photograph can share such beautiful pictures.

The brilliance of this shot is not, in my opinon, the wonderful rainbow but the people in the boat and their undevided attention they give to this light phenomenon.

They look absolutely mesmerized!

what an exceptional image. there is even a hint of a second rainbow in the upper right corner. love that the reflection of the rainbow is crossing the boat in the water. lovely scenery and stunning shot.

I must add that this shot is beautifull. :)

I think the 5 different levels/planes from bottom to top(les plans en francais) are what makes it so pleasant to look at. ie.the boat in calm water, the far away water, the green mountain, the rocky mountain and finally the sky, all linked by the rainbow and its reflection. They are all more interesting than the other.

It is so well composed and the main subject, the rainbow(or is it the boat i wouldn't know?), is so sharp! WOW my first favourite on TE.

Great photograph. It immediately cought my attention, because I've been there on holiday. I tried to make some nice photographs of the lake, but the lightning conditions weren't nearly as good as in your photograph. The boat in the front adds a nice idyllic element to it.
