A pond with a secret, a photo from Hordaland, South

Photographer's Note

This picture was taken at Skansen in Bergen, looking towards the area called Eidemarken. The wooden buildings in the area erected mainly between 1868 and 1880. At Skansen, a fire station with associated water pool was built to serve the area with many wooden houses. The water pool was built to get sufficient water pressure. A few years ago, parking facilities were built for the area's residents, under the pond. The water level in the pond was thus reduced to about 20 cm. Fortunately, it is still enough to create fine reflections.

Hello Erling,
Interesting note about the fire-station pond and surprisingly - a parking area in the underground level.
Winter light was just enabling you with good reflection of the wooden houses. Well observed.

When I visited Bergen I stayed a bit along behind your photo in a house similar to these classic Bergen buildings. Great light on the buildings for good effect.

De gamla trдbyggnaderna дr vackert speglade i den lдtt krusade vattenytan, och ljuset дr fantastiskt fint. Och titeln kan ju gцra vem som helst nyfiken.

This picture doesn't give us the impression that the water is only twenty cm deep. It could be a much deeper pond.
Pretty combination of blue and white.
Beautiful slightly distorted reflections.

The buildings look quite contemporary but what a great light! The resulting colors are pleasantly warm and of course well reflected in the water.
Quite interesting story. From this angle it is hard to speculate about the depth of the pond but you are right: for the photographer this type of depth does not matter :)
