ARTZUID II
Three new artworks from the ARTZUID Biennial 2021 in Amsterdam.
■ Picture 1: ◄ Love and Generosity ► https://i1.trekearth.com/photos/15099/te915-1.jpg
The first photo shows an image that will have a permanent place at the current location in front of the building of the Amsterdam Courthouse.
The American artist Nicole Eisenman made the artwork 'Love or Generosity' for the new court
The artwork depicts a gatekeeper of the court: not a guard but a gentle person who offers relaxation and comfort. The statue is more than five meters high, which makes it a good fit for the new courthouse that has ten floors. Despite the height of the statue, the friendly attitude of the 'gatekeeper' ensures that the image does not deter but rather attracts and makes you curious.
■ Picture 2: ◄ SIGNS ► https://i1.trekearth.com/photos/15099/te915-2.jpg
In the second photo you will not recognize a work of art at first glance, but the yellow sign is part of an extensive work of art by Johanneke Meester.
“Since 2011, Joanneke Meester has been producing yellow traffic signs. They feature inspirational and relativistic texts, which can be interpreted in a number of ways in relation to the local residents, visitors, neighbourhood, the temporary (art) manifestation or a special theme. The Signs – originally used to redirect traffic – are given a whole new significance and, in combination with the context, various layers of meaning. They give direction in their own way, based on thought processes, imagination and reflection.” (website joannekemeester.com)
The man in the picture seems as if indeed his rhythm has disrupted : RHYTHM DISRUPTED
Other road signs of Joanneke are: HELP HELPS - WHAT IS THE SHORTEST WAY TO WISDOM? - BEING DIFFERENT CAN BE FUN TOO - IT CAN ALWAYS BE CRAZIER - GET USED TO IT - YOU CAN ALWAYS ASK - CLOSE TO CONFUSION - DIRECTION EMPHATY - HURRYING DOES NOT HELP - THE BEST IS YET TO COME
■ Picture 3: ◄ The interpretation and identification of the meaning of life ►
https://i1.trekearth.com/photos/15099/te915-3.jpg
In the photo we see the installation “The interpretation and identification of the meaning of life” by Tirzo Martha (Curaçao, 1965).
I chose the photo because it shows so beautifully how you can introduce children from a very young age and let them enjoy the fantasy of art.

Hello Rob, I would have loved to see this artwork being installed, it is enormous!
This viewpoint is interesting as the couple close to the large hand seem to be totally distracted by something else, taking no notice of the giant.
I like Picture 3 where the mother is talking to her young child about that particular artwork.
Thanks for sharing.
HAPPY CHRISTMAS.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hello Rob,
This is great! I like this giant work of art, with a modern skyscraper as its backdrop. He's wearing cool shoes, too. :-) Even though this gentle giant is trying to share what he's holding, the people beside him are not even paying attention! This is a fun photo. Have a very Merry Christmas!

Hallo Rob,

Zeer goed foto werk, bedankt.

Vele groeten, Paul

Hi Rob,beautiful modern work as main photo, but the meaning of life in the WS is truly amazing with these modern components so linked to each other and also to our everyday life. Three interesting and very original photos accompanied by always exhaustive notes. Merry Christmas to you and your family and thanks,Luciano

Hi Rob,
The tight frame is putting the statue in evidence. The point of view is showing the details of the sculpture. The light is making the colors to stand out. Have a nice day.

Hello Rob,
I find this sculpture fantastic. I like this combination of very realistic elements, the shoes and trousers are impressive,
and the rest is like in sculpture. You could show what he has in his hand. Funny that almost all visitors have dark blue jackets. The Workshop pictures are nice but less interesting.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year for you and your family

Hello Rob,
The most fascinating artwork is no doubt this gentle giant (who makes me think of my niece's basketball playing teenage son). The environment also makes this statue special. Among the WS I am especially charmed by the young mother talking to her child about art. She had chosen a funny object to introduce him to the subject of artists' imaginations. Of course I also like that they are both wearing red.
Best regards,
Gert

Hi Rob
3 good sculpture photos with the main being especially interesting by its size and with the hand just near the pair of people. #2 is a bit obscure until reading the note.
cheers
Ian
