Photographer's Note
Here we are again
Fortunataly the TE-website operators did manage to solve the problems and we can continue for a while to fulfil the TE-mission:
“TrekEarth is dedicated to fostering a global community interested in photography from around the world.
TrekEarth members strive to provide engaging photographs and useful critiques for each other and the entire internet community.”
The three pictures of this post give you an impression of the situation in the TE-headquarter this morning.
■ Main picture (Large scalable version) TE-Chief Operator inspects the damage
■ Workshop 1 (Large scalable version) Two IT-engineers repairs the wires
■ Workshop 2 (Large scalable version) CEO Inspects the result
Servicing a little outdated website with an extended database full of precious photos isn’t an easy job and problems are from all times if you can see in two of my post from September 2008:
New engine for TE-Server !!! 2008-09-24
New wiring for TE server 2008-09-29
◙
I took the pictures for this report last week during a short vacation in my own country (7 museums in 4 days)
The photos are from the fascinating exhibition “Between the Lines” of the Japanese artist Chiharu Shiota in the Brabants Museum in Den Bosch.
Chiharu Shiota
Between the Lines
The Japanese artist, Chiharu Shiota (Osaka, 1972), was the sensation of the 56th Venice Biennale in 2015. The Japanese pavilion with her installation, The Key in the Hand, was one of the top five exhibitions in The Guardian that year and it was also on the cover of The New York Times. Shiota’s first solo exhibition in the Netherlands offers a retrospective overview of her oeuvre. The installation, Uncertain Journey, made to measure for Het Noordbrabants Museum, is the highlight of the exhibition. Chiharu Shiota: Between the Lines has been made possible by the Renschdael Art Foundation and can be seen in Het Noordbrabants Museum in ’s-Hertogenbosch from 24th June to 15th October.

Hello Rob,
Fabulous image with the near silhouette of the man standing against a compelling background. I will file it away in that group theme. A Dutch friend who is married to a heart surgeon shared a photo of a heart with all the blood vessels filled with a red plastic reminiscent of this photo.
I thought for sure that Trekearth had gone off and left us high and dry. No way to get to our photos or to photos posted by friends. I am glad it's back. The site may have been hacked.
Warm regards,
Bulent

Hi Rob,
TE is now working. You have captured well the intensity of the peole observing the artwork. The point of view is showing the details of the artwork. The surrounding light has a good effect on the colors. Have a nice day.

Hi Rob
this will be my first critique since the TE shutdown, lets see if it works.
I don't thin this photo has enough Red in it Rob, repost it hahaha. its like a huge collection of oversized blood vessels or something. Is the floor pink or is that lighting? that makes an impact too. cool, interesting, making a strong visual statement. Fun way to return to TE
cheers

Fantastic tones of red, Rob, a remarkable composition with the available light indoor's.
The inclusion of the man in front of the exhibit piece. and the lady on the other side gave life to the scene.
Good morning from Israel,

Hallo Rob,
Vele groeten, Paul

Ciao Rob

Hello Rob,
They were difficult days without TE. It shows how I am addicted.I felt so confused.
I like all the pictures but even more I find your comments to the situation on TE very amusing. Strange red nets. Impressive views. Splendid compositions.
Glad to see you again

Hello Rob,
I like the color combination of red and pink. The standing man with his back to us admiring the sculpture provides a good focal point. Excellent sharpness and a nice diffused light. Tfs!

Hallo Rob,

Hello Rob,
It's great to see your pictures again. These are three lovely shots. I am just curious what you would have called them if the site had not broken down. You were greatly inspired by the collapse. But these photos are very inspiring all by themselves. This is a fantastic installation and a perfectly composed photo. This is where I saw Hieronimus Bosch last year. I think I would have enjoyed this show just as much, to be honest.
Kind regards,
Gert

Bonjour, cher Rob,
Amitiés.

Ha! Ha! Rob, I think you dealt with the situation much quicker than the TE website operators!
I like this shot!
The body language of the f/g figure tells us immediately that he is in thought, in deep consideration, whilst the surrounding space of red wires and red atmosphere suggests that he is finding no solution, that everything is getting hotter and hotter!
A beautifully composed shot.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Rob,
So that was the problem! All those wires are red hot! That kind of mess makes all of as thinking deep thoughts. Seriously, this is a fantastic photo of one of the strangest pieces of art I've seen.

Hello, Rob!
Very creative way to show this sequence of photos, comparing with the problem we had on TE these days! At least it's back and here we are again! I like the monochromatic tones of this image! Wonderful composition!

Olá, Rob!
Consegui acessar minha conta apenas ontem. As artes expostas me chamaram muito a atenção. Cor intensa e bonita. A composição foi enriquecida com o homem.
Ótima foto!

Hello Rob,
That red artwork probably does represent the chaos inside the TE server. :-) It's very interesting to see, and I like that we are watching someone else examining the art, too. My nephew is a fan of horror movies, and right away the sweater that man is wearing reminded me of Freddy Kreuger from "A Nightmare on Elm Street"! Hopefully it isn't him. ;-)

Hi Rob
but it doesn't work still properly, you can't see your favorites pictures.
I feel the black wire sculpture is part of this man. You were lucky to have matching colors!
Have a nice WE

Hello Rob,
This must be one of the most interesting and amusing posts I have ever seen on TE! How wonderful that you have used both your interest in art and your interest in "people watching" to produce such an amazing illustrated narrative based around the recent problems with this website!
All your photographs are well presented but, from the photographic point of view, I think your "main" picture must be my favourite, so simply yet so well composed - just the sort of photograph I would love to have taken myself!
Brilliant!!
Kind Regards,
John.

Ciao Rob
I love this shot. The way you composed it with the observers is really well thought out. I love the vivid colours and the way you have depicted the installation, which in itself is a work of art. Excellent sharpness, light and depth of field.
Cheers and a happy day to you

Hello Rob,
This is a spectacular photo of very interesting modern art. It makes me feel like the gentleman in the photo and I are little fish about to be caught by a fisherman's net.
