Flat country, huge fields, loads of birds, big sky... I just love it! :o)

Tholen is our new place since a bit more than a year now. A great and charming place. We felt "coming home" here at the first day.

Ik verveel me soms te pletter in dit saaie landschap, weet soms echt niet meer wat ik moet fotografen en dan kom jij er aan om mij te vertellen dat je dit geweldig vind....nah ;-)
Heb je serie van Tholen eens bekeken, daar zitten toch wel een zeer fraaie platen bij. Niet alleen omdat het winter is, maar ook in de compositie en onderwerpen dit je daarbij hebt gekozen. Hier past dat witte frame erg goed, tevens je uitsnede in een meer panorama look werkt uitstekend.
Een mooie meerlagen compositie, erg mooi opgezet, ook al blijft dat vlakke land mij nog amper inspireren.

Hi Vivianne,

I love it too. All those birds! I can feel the cold in the frost, but then again it was 40 degrees here. How do they get those tree rows so straight, and the same height?

Hi Viviane,

This is kind of a winter version of van Gogh's "Wheatfield with crows" - where he has stippled a white of the foreground snowy fields, rather than swirled a yellow-gold for the wheat.

This is a wonderfully layered photograph, which responds well to a highly panoramic crop - the distinct snowy grass, rocky greenery, vertical trees and pale sky give a lovely mix of textures and geometric effects. For all the variation on offer, you have managed to keep the shot tranquil, rather than busy. This is a persoal one: I might be tempted to airbrush out the vertical, human-made poles fading away in to the sky in the right of your shot.

A really lovely, and very Dutch shot - some of the old masters would have loved this work.
