Rotterdam by Night

Last night I went out night hunting with Rinie. We have done it a couple of times during the day, and pictures from this are scattered thru our portfolios, and got the same idea to once go hunting at night while cycling back from a Surinam dinner along the lighted harbour cranes of the Maritime museum on the Leuvehaven a few days before the summer holidays. So yesterday we gathered at 00:30 AM, on the Wilhelmina pier and started off....

Displayed here is our famous Swan with the Euromast visible thru the tuien of the bridge. On the right is the Noordereiland, Rinie’s bailiwick. Due to the long exposure time (13 sec) the Maas took on silky and flowing appearance.

PCS2 tech: framed as composed in camera; contrast, levels, curves & saturation (differentially) adjusted; USM-ed; added a frame and saved for the web.

Yo Bert! This is an impressive image of one of those famous Rotterdam bridges, the Swan. I will place in in my other theme about the Swan as well.
The colors are really lovely, and the Euromast is perfectly displayed this way. (We should try to get admission to it for our next night hunt ;-)). I love the great clarity of the shot, you and your camera fit together very well!
My 'island' is very neat this way, and the reflections on the Maas are wonderful. What I hate in waterfall shots, long exposure, is what I like in night shots reflections on water, indeed the silky appearance.
We had great fun!

Hola Bert. Una gran foto nocturna. Me gusta el uso de la exposiciуn tan larga, porque proporciona al agua un aspecto mбs tranquilo y los reflejos se vuelven mбs suaves. La composiciуn esta bien tambiйn y ademбs se trata de un tema bastante interesante. Buen trabajo.

Following Rinieґs recommendations I end up here and Iґm thankfull because this photo is wonderfull in its sharpness. I love the white lines created by the cables in the brigde. Congratulations.

Goedenavond Bert,
Volgens mijn zien is dit een van uw beste foto's (kwalitatief) van uw portefuille, ik heb zelf ondervonden dat nachtfotografie geen gemakkelijke opgave is. Maar met twee zal iets gemakkelijker geweest zijn. Bert ik perplex van de kwaliteit, mooi werk man!

Wat een prachtige foto van de Zwaan, zoals je denk ik wel weet vind ik dit echt een prachtige brug en deze foto by night is ook geweldig. Heel mooi werk!

Ive seen many bridges before and from this one I have seen quit a few too
The night shot is very good .
I’m most impressed with the white color of the labels I think this is what a\attracted me the most here, of course the 13 sec exposure is very good and the light are not smudged and the perspective is good.
But the light on the cables that’s the 2 points

Prachtige en geslaagde samenwerking met Rinie. TE samenwerking is altijd stimulerend. Het lijkt mij ook de goede verdeling. Jij de zwaan en Rinie de Hef. Past het best in jullie beider repertoire. Die Rotterdamse bruggen blijven geweldig om te fotograferen.
(Ik ga nu deze kritiek omzetten voor Rinie)

this is a fantastic night scene, Bert. Just tremendous. The bridge looks even better at night. Its geometric forms stand out so well in its bright illumination. I love how it towers over the buildings on the bank and over the silky smooth river. The lines are so electric in their solid lighting. And it's all crisp and clean. The sky has a nice overcast reflecting the city lights giving a more interesting backdrop above. Excellent job Bert.

Great nightshot, everything looks good, i love the silky aspect of the water and off course, the beams of light from the bridge.

Breathtaking Bert! You are blessed with the lighting given to the bridge that allows this spectacular presentation of a very distinctive structure. This is wonderfully sharp with rich colors despite the darkened sky. The street scene with the many building lights as well as the bright red light on the left reflecting on the water really make this image sing. Wonderful work! What fun to go hunting with a friend from TE. I envy you both the pleasure of one another's company. Thanks for sharing your finds with all of us.

Dag Bert! Prachtig nightshot. De brug is een heel sterk grafisch element; de kleuren zijn mooi en de scherpte is zoals ze moet zijn. Goeie pov. Het oogt heel indrukwekkend, mooi gedaan.

Les compositions nocturnes ont beaucoup de succиs depuis l'amйlioration de l'йclairage moderne.
J'apprйcie beaucoup les lignes gйomйtriques scintillantes qui donnent beaucoup d'impact sur cette vue.

This is a very neat picture of the swan.

The Swan by night, a photogenic bridge and here we have a very clear view, colder modern colours of the bridge against the warmer colours of the city, that's nice, Bert !
