Aardenburg Netherlands.
St. Bavo Church is a protestant church in the Dutch town of Aardenburg in Zeeland. It is included in the "Top 100 of the Department for Conservation" 1990.
The tower from 1220 with the oldest part of the church, the nave and the transept, in the Netherlands is the only major example of pure Scheldt Gothic, a regional architecture from the transition from Romanesque to Gothic style from the first half of the 13th century . The church was built in the years after 1243 on the basis of an earlier church building.
The origins of the church lies with the monks of the St. Bavo's Abbey in Ghent, who built a small church in 959 at this location. The population growth in the 13th century Aardenburg become a town with 5,000 inhabitants, so the need arose for a larger church. This Romanesque church burned down in 1202.
In the fourteenth century, the church expanded with the elongated hall choir and built in the seventeenth century was a home. This serves as a vestry.
After the restoration, which was completed in 1956, part of the church (nave, transept, tower and storm washers) owned by the State of the Netherlands and as such was managed by the Government Buildings Agency. It is transferred along with 28 other monuments on January 15, 2016 at the National Monument Organization. [1] Reason for the transfer is that the object of the government has no function, but should be well managed and preserved because of its historic value.

Hallo John,
Vele groeten, Paul

Hello John,
the church has an austere but grandiose aspect, it looks so sharp and interesting despite its placement in the background and the interferrence of the trees. I like very much the sense of depth and the bright natural colours. The bare trees and branches complete your composition in an exquisite way. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great evening,
Ourania

Hello John,
I think the light and the setting of this photo are its greatest assets. The church itself looks fairly ordinary, but it is very nicely located among the trees, and the fine light of early spring has created lovely mild colours. The trees seem to carry the first signs that spring has started, and soon the leaves will be fully grown, which would almost hide the church from this angle.
Kind regards,
Gert

Bonsoir, cher ami John,

Hi John,
The trees are framing well the church. The point of view is showing a double perspective of the architecture of the St.Bavo church. It is clear and precise. Have a nice day.

Hello John,
With the dates you are giving us for this church, it must have started its life as a Catholic church. Would you happen to know its current denomination? It is a lovely building. The naked trees in front of it cover it like lacework, allowing us to enjoy the building relatively unobstructed.

Hallo John,

Salut John,

Hello John. This time you look deeper in your archive. St. Bavo church but not in Ghent but in Netherlands. Nice view in a sunny early spring day. i like the top of the tower with a small ship. Good time to make this photo when the trees are still leafless and we can see the church behind them and they make nice framing.
Kind regrad s Malgo

Hello John,
The naked branches allow good view through towards the church's edifice, and still, made nice graphic effect.
Light was super, which you taken full advantage of. Beautiful shine of the top of the tower statue.
Have a nice weekend,

Hello John,
The composition is very well constructed and nicely illuminated with agreeable natural colours and very good sharpness. The ideal time of year to capture the church from this angle before the trees come fully into leaf and obscure the church. As it is, the intricate tracery of the bare branches add a pleasing graphical element to the composition.

Hello John,
You have given us some very interesting historical notes about this church, bearing the name of a most unfamiliar saint.
The light is gentle but bright on this late March day, with long shadows which enhance the scene enormously, of a church which seems to be hiding.
The colours are perfectly saturated, particularly giving warmth to the stone o the church.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hi John
that was an excellent read, lots of good historical information there.
I like how most of the frame is taken up by the branches, and they go up and down. the lighting is exactly how you'd want it to be too. I wouldn't want to change anything here. the church is tall and proud in the frame dominating the small tiny homes beside it. cheers

Hello John,
Great photo with excellent quality and sharpness. I like the way you added the branches to the foreground to fill in the empty sky.

Ciao John

Hello John,
A good angled pov on this park and street corner with the early Spring foliage just starting to make an appearance, and the big stone cathedral at left making an obvious focal point. Tfs!

Hi John
A beautiful old church and what an adornment by the pretty skeletal trees taken from this pov with the tip of the spire acts as an effective eye stopper. Superb detail rendition along with subtle light and colours, Congrats
Best regards
