Weesp, a photo from Noord-Holland, South

Photographer's Note

Weesp is a small historic town east of Amsterdam, on the river Vecht. It was once fortified, and several of the bastions, moats and forts still survive. In the Amsterdam region, Weesp is the nearest small town that has survived as an independent entity. It is only 3 km from the end of the Amsterdam metro, but the wide Amsterdam-Rhine Canal keeps it geographically separate. Weesp is a rail junction, and very easily accessible. The town is surrounded by open grassland and has a population of around 18, 000 inhabitants.
This is the towns 15th-century church, Laurenskerk, Nieuwstraat. The tower dates from the 13th-century.

Beautiful panorama of the old town. Magnificent church with a high tower. Nice houses on the banks of the canal. Good POV, nice natural colors and good sharpness.

A beautiful photo, Chris, of what looks like a great small town (not one I've been to though). great composition using the sloping shore line to fade away and great colour.

Hello Chris,

the colours of these building are in tune with the greyish sky and only small hints of pink and red give a nice contrast to it. Beautiful architecture and the seagulls flying make a charming vivid shot.

The village and its church seem to float on water. The strange foreground gives depth to the photograph. The light lights effectively. Clearness is excellent. The water birds add to the attraction of this beautiful image. Cheer.
