Photographer's Note
This bridge is called the 'skinny bridge' in Amsterdam: he is very narrow and long. Not on this photo, because I liked to get him integrated in the rest of his surroundings between the houses along river Amstel, to give a impression how I see him daily, just biking through the city. The bridge is 95 % made of wood, built in the 18th century. He works by balance; with two counter-weights on his arms above which are almost as heavy as the bridge himself. So it costs a minimum of energy to open the two parts.
