Photographer's Note
This photo was taken during the 'Razigrano Oro' folk festival in Ohrid, Macedonia.
I liked the contrast of the girl's traditional dress and the contemporary, globalized dress of the man. His macho-type personality is underlined by the tattoo, the baseball cap and the thick chain on his neck. The text on his t-shirt adds a point, too.
It actually shows a more serious issue: local traditions are still celebrated in many countries, but they are only used as a kind of decoration, ornament. Members of folk groups put their costumes only for stage performances, sometimes (in some regions) for weddings. But daily life is 'free of tradition'. Globalization is here.

Hello Wojciech,
You made a good observation here, and captured it nicely. It's always interesting to see traditional clothes, and the man's shirt is definitely amusing. The image is a bit dark and seems to have a blue tint, so I made a WS with a few changes. All the best in the new year.
