Photographer's Note
While the obvious shot on a visit to Pisa is of the leaning tower (Yes, I have got lots of those as well), this one of the Baptistry near by shows the tremendous detail in the stonework on these buildings.
I've tried playing around with it in photoshop and am un-decided as to whether I prefer it like this or in Black and White (I used the channels function and switched only the red channel on which increased the contrast and turned the blue sky black_. Any thoughts ??

Hello Jonathan. I think it looks good in color but perhaps with a bit more contrast. And maybe a little more sharpness. The Baptistery is an amazing building, full of amazing detail. You captured some of it nicely, here. These capitals and the arches. The patterns in the stone. I like the way it really emphasizes how much lighter the architecture gets as you move up. From the heavy bottom to the rhythmic arches and finally the upward pointing pediments. Perhaps if you had done this vertically you would have gotten a more dramatic feel by including more of the bottoms of these columns. And I know it's not easy to photograph. I have a few up that show some of my attempts at it. But still you did nicely to capture the layers upon layers of the Baptistery. Good job.
