Photographer's Note
The control tower of “Aeroporto Intercontinentale Leonardo da Vinci di Fiumicino” near Rome . This towers strikes a very strong pose. It’s functional and very readable design breathes control. I removed the colour of its surroundings to amplify this.
PS-E2 tech: color removed (selections made with the magic wand – tolerance 90-whole sky, 40-sky-details), rotated, sharpened, saturated. The jaggies (the pictures was made with digital zoom) softened with the blur tool, the sky blurred, frame added. Saved for the web
For the time being this is the last Rome posting. Thanx very much for all your reactions to my Rome series! I enjoyed them and learned from them. Next stop: Thessaloniki.

The angle and the composition is ok but the desaturation of large areas makes it look to processed for my taste.

Jij hebt dus ook het oog van een kunstenaar.
Geweldig Bert, de compositie zoals jij die neerzet. Goed gedaan.

This is very striking. It could do with a bit or rotation CCW, and I would like to see what the blue against the red and white could look like, but a nice shot and well seen. You are right. Very strong pose - I like it!

Well considering, pretty framing, the colors are very good and especially contrast with the sky and the tower is very interesting.

Het idee alleen is al goed, de foto is nog beter Bert, een mooi werk heb u neer gezet. Ik wacht op de volgende stop. Prachtig.

I really like the desaturation here. The sky in the original was a very nice blue but the tower really stands out in this. And not only does it stand out it has the appearance more of a beacon in bad conditions. It's like a point of hope as lighthouses were for ships. Your angle of view and your presentation work very nicely. Too bad the newer section cuts across the bottom. Before they built it it might have presented an even more dramatic view. But you can't do anything about that. Good job and I look forward to Thessaloniki.

It´s a very good composition. The combination between building and sky colour ít´s fantastic. Very good job.

Bert, this has a very coldwar feel to it. The checkered tower reminds me of the coldwar, must be all those 60s and 70s old movies. Desaturation emphasise the tower well
Well taken!
