Polyptych
The polyptych, depicting the Madonna with the Child surrounded by Saints Sebastiano, Fortunato, Severo and Chiara da Montefalco, work of Francesco Melanzio dated 1488, comes from the church of Santa Maria di Turrita di Montefalco, now kept in the city museum. The Madonna and the Saints are inserted into an architecture in relief that frames each character in small arches supported by columns. In the central arch, of greater dimensions is the Madonna enthroned with the child, surrounded by angels; on the left there are San Sebastiano and San Fortunato, on the right San Severo and Santa Chiara da Montefalco. The dedication on the strip under the trabeation recalls that the work was made on the occasion of the feast of the Madonna, celebrated in December.
