Sanctuary of the Madonna del Piano - Serravalle del Chienti (MC)
It is located in the Colfiorito plateau on the road that leads from Plestia to San Martino. Originally the sanctuary of the Madonna del Piano, it was a small aedicule placed, as was the custom at that time, at the intersection of streets, perhaps on a previous pagan temple. The church was built by the local population at the beginning of the 16th century, still preserves its characteristics as a border sanctuary being protected by the Lateran basilica with the shape of the Giuspatronato and placed in the diocese of Spoleto, but under the jurisdiction of Camerino. Since 1542 it has been placed under the Church of San Salvatore of Acqua Pagana. Until the fifties of the last century a hermit, Fra 'Lui', lived in some rooms on the top floor of the church. Severely damaged by the earthquake of 1997 it was then restored.
Inside there are numerous frescoes made in large part by Paolo Bontulli di Percanestro from 1509 to 1523. See the WS

C'est fabuleux de pouvoir contempler l'intйrieur de cet йdifice religieux et nous offrir les portraits а travers les fresques.
Je suppose qu'il existe un trиs grand respect de l'Eglise en Italie (nos йglises sont fermйes pour cause de vol d'objets religieux).

I have just been watching a wonderful series on the history of Rome and this church seems to mirror what happened in the Eternal City, many of the pagan temples were slowly converted into Christian churches.
This is a small, charming church, it seems modest and reserved by the standards of many churches but, it is perfectly adequate for a small community to worship.
Your details are clear and well saturated, and surprisingly bright for such a small church.
