Cascito
Cascito is a small mountain village reachable from Scopoli (middle Valle del Menotre), through a dirt and winding road.
A kilometer before Cancelli, near a hairpin bend, a dirt road starts, leading to this tiny village located south-east of Mount Aguzzo and lying on a small esplanade.
Although it has never been a castle, to look closely at the ruins of the perimeter walls that still surface here and there, as well as the massive tower built as a guard and lookout post, one immediately gets the impression that Cascito in the past centuries has had a considerable importance both as a refuge in case of incursions, and as a point of reference and stop for the many travelers who crossed those areas.
