Photographer's Note

Vasaio di Tenno, Via Fratelli Bandiera, Canale di Tenno, Trentino-Alto Adige, Italy.

The potter's house and workshop in this sublime little 13th century mountain village. Indeed the village is included in the list of "I borghi pi belli d'Italia" (The most beautiful villages in Italy). It remains an unspoilt medieval time-capsule, having been abandoned during the last century. Then in the '60s, it was rediscovered by the artist Giacomo Vittone, who spent several years here painting and dedicating himself to bringing the village back to life thanks to lively artistic and cultural activities. The Casa degli Artisti (Home of the Artists), dedicated to Giacomo Vittone, has its seat here and is a residence and meeting place for artists from the whole of Europe. Yes, maybe it feels a little odd, with no shops, cafes or "normal" amenities, just artists, artisans and craftspeople. But at least it's kept alive and unspoilt.
