Photographer's Note
A great architectural contrast
The Castel Nuovo goes back to 1279 whose construction was decided by Charles Ier d'Anjou. Indeed during the XIIIe century, the Maison d'Anjou succeeds Normans and Naples becomes thus the capital of the kingdom Angevin directed by Charles Ier d'Anjou, brother of Saint Louis, in 1266.
In 1442, Alphonse V from Aragon (Alphonse Ier, king of Naples and of Sicily) undertake an integral rebuilding of this castle for his triumphal entry in Naples. To commemorate this event a triumphal arch, very out of white marble, will be built since 1452 at the entrance of the castle. This "Triumphal arch" is a completely remarkable monument from its architectural design which is completely opposed to that of the Castle itself! Moreover it should be known that many artists collaborated in his creation.
Today the Castel Nuovo shelters one of the many museums of Naples and more particularly "The Neapolitan Society of National History "(founded in 1875).

Very interesting combination of architectural elements and colors. I like the road signs, they add a splash of color and a sense of history (when opposed to the old building). The sign saying "Castel Nuovo" is nice too. Well composed picture.

Bravo

Hi Jean Luc, I find the middle façade splendid, very interesting combination of architectural elements and colours, perhaps the framework is little heavy Jean Luc, the note is interesting.

Bravo!

Beautifully captured against that sky. Dark and light. The colorful traffic signs in the front add a nice touch of color in the foreground which contrast nicely with the castle. And in turn the contrast between the arch and the castle continues that contrast. I like how the arrow points to the sign saying this is the Castel Nuovo.

After all this time the new construction is a part of the history itself. But imagine if something like this was made in nowadays!!! Great scandal! :-)
It's true the saying that time heals everything...
Very good exposure, details and composition. I just find the signs a bit too visible and distracting. I think that if you select them and desaturate a bit the colors the photo would gain from it.

Bonjour Jean Luc,
