Photographer's Note

Of the main tourist attraction of the ring of Kerry is the much less travelled Scellig ring. It is in the very heart of a Gaelic speeking community and offers some really stunning vistas. Here we see the pleasant beech of Ballinskellig with the remains of a 16th century tower situated on a small island just of the beach to ward of pirates. Just nearby one can also visit the ruins of Ballinskellig priory from where the monks fled to the rocky outcrop of Skellin Michael, a bare rock island where the monks settled.
