Macgillycuddy reeks, a photo from Kerry, South

Photographer's Note

On an early morning the highest mountain range in Ireland, the snowcapped Macgillycudddy reeks reflect in a small lake just outside Killarney National Park on the way to one of Irelands most trodden tourist routes, the ring of Kerry.
This lake was hidden from the street and we almost missed it, I had to back up the car to be able to park in a small recess just of the road and walking down to the lake trough a bog. But it was worth it.

It definately was worth all the effort to take this superb shot.The composition,clarity,colours and lighting are great.Reflections of the snow capped mountains and the little boat in the corner magnificent.

Well worth the effort! This is a magnificent shot, and so nice to see the mountains with snow on them like this, not something too often seen in Ireland, particularly at this time of year. Such a pin sharp reflection is truly beautiful, with the addition of the many colours offered by the boats. A really stunning image, thanks for sharing.

Hello Daniel,

Beautiful landscape.
Picture has nice layers (starts with the boat)
and that creates a nice depth. The open spaces
makes the picture nice calmness. The light
mangement is good: okay the picture has some
overlighted pieces, but this kind of surrounding
is hundred times more difficult to expose, than
a beach landscape.

Hi Daniel,

Glad you didn't pass this one by, what a beautiful setting! Without the note or location description, I wouldn't have guessed this to be Ireland!? Snow covered hillside and lack of lush green landscape....why, this isn't what I know!?? :) Very well composed, even though it breaks the vaunted "rule of thirds" this works extremely well, the reflection is sublime! Great example of going with instinct rather than supposed rules. I like the foreground boat, it's a nice solid bit of subject matter to break the reflection, but subtle so as not to be in any way distracting. Marvelous find and solid execution have provided a very attractive result, thanks for the view my friend. Have a great week ahead.

Another really nice shot, some of the clouds are a bit over exposed, but it is better to have this light and the reflection is fantastic addition to the composition.
