Photographer's Note

This was just one of the many interesting aspects of the Kjolur route in Icelands interior. The road passes through a massive flat plain of peebles which then makes way for volcanic ash. It is so desolate that the only thing other than sand and peebles along this stretch of the route are road signs.

This section is just pass the huts at Hveravellir. We stayed at these huts which had natural springs to bath in. We had the most amazing experience here as when we were in the springs in the evening, the northern lights started to appear and we got a spectacular show for about 30 minutes.
