Photographer's Note

I took this shot when we drove on a glacier. There are no roads here so 4-wheel drive is a must, and the driver always has to be on the lookout for ice cracks. Even though the temperature itself is not as extreme as one would think, the wind chilling effect made this the coldest experience I ever had. Despite of that, the glaciers on Iceland are melting at an alarming rate, pulling back by up to 100 meters per year.
