Temple of Hera

The Temple of Hera, or Heraion, is an ancient Archaic Greek temple at Olympia, Greece, that was dedicated to Hera, queen of the Greek gods. It was the oldest temple at Olympia and one of the most venerable in all Greece. It was originally a joint temple of Hera and Zeus, chief of the gods, until a separate temple was built for him.

The torch of the Olympic flame is lit in its ruins to this day.The temple was built in approximately 590 BC, but was destroyed by an earthquake in the early 4th century CE.

Hello Piotr,
There is not much left of the temple, but the three large columns are impressive and indicate what an important complex this must have been. There is a fine light shining on the foreground and the darker trees form a fine background.

Czesc Piotr,
Na mnie Twoja podroz zrobila juz wczesniej a tu sie okazuje ze jeszcze nie koniec nowosci. Naprawde szkoda ze mapy TE nie dzialaja.
Sporo cienia ale to co najwazniejsze czyli kolumny sa bardzo ladnie oswietlone i odstaja od ciemniejszego tla.
A jakie dwa inne kraje rozwazales poza Grecja?

Hello Piotr,
For a moment I hesitated between Delphi and Olympia but the landscape around Delphi looks clearly different.
You were able to take this photo without other tourists around the temple.
The remaining columns look very robust.

a nice view of this part of the ruins. I remember the many structures I saw there. but it isn't easy to choose the best ones. nice the columns here in the light.
