Lavandula (common name lavender) is a genus of 47 known species of flowering plants in the mint family, Lamiaceae. It is native to the Old World and is found in Cape Verde and the Canary Islands, and from Europe across to northern and eastern Africa, the Mediterranean, southwest Asia to India.

Many members of the genus are cultivated extensively in temperate climates as ornamental plants for garden and landscape use, for use as culinary herbs, and also commercially for the extraction of essential oils.

The most widely cultivated species, Lavandula angustifolia, is often referred to as lavender, and there is a color named for the shade of the flowers of this species.
Lavender has been used over centuries in traditional medicine and cosmetics, and "limited clinical trials support therapeutic use of lavender for pain, hot flushes, and postnatal perineal discomfort."

The long straight rows of the lilac coloured bushes are beautiful and very eye-catching, but the distant view of hills and trees, and not least the clouds, is also very attractive. There is also a very nice light which helped you to a good photo.

Marvelous view. I wouldn't guess it is in Greece, it looks rather as in Provence. I have never seen such a lavender field. I imagine the aroma there. Fantastic composition.

Hello Dear Costantino,

What a beautiful photograph and taken from such a fine viewpoint that the sense of depth and perspective are clearly addressed.
I like how the silhouetted, b/g hills add to the whole impression.

Maybe a crop of some of the sky would have added even more emphasis to the f/g.

This is such a beautiful scenery here! I love it. The color of the lavender is so photogenic and the geometry of the bushes is so eye catching. On the horizon we have an impressive landscape and everything caught in a great light!
EXcellent woork!!
In fact I have 9 lavender bushes in front of my house and they are growing well. But taking into account the colder climat they just started to bloom, I see the flowers growing but no purple color yet here...

I didn't know that Greece grew lavender. I have only seen Provence in south west France advertised in tourist brochures and travel guides. This looks equally great. Good color, sharpness and perspective. Tfs!

This is such a lovely view ... it seems to me that the sun is beginning to set on the mountain with a soft glow to the wonderful landscapes.
Of course , this purple glow of sweet lavender field is sensational beautiful. The endless invigorating scent in the air ... a remedy for a 'Peace of Mind and Body'.
