The perfect light of sunset, a photo from Magnisia, Thessaly

Photographer's Note

After my first visit in the MORNING, I'm back there in the evening, before sunset, to capture the best colors on the other side of the red beach of Kokkinokastro, a magical moment where even the water is colored in best way.
Kokkinokastro is maybe the most impressive beach on Alonissos, with calm turquoise waters and a unique morphology,also called the "Red Beach" for the particular color that assumes at sunset. The beach lays underneath a steep cliff and is surrounded by large, imposing red rocks. Inside the sea water, at a little distance from the shore, lay the ruins of the sunk neolithic city Eikos, so it is also ideal for snorkeling and underwater explorations. The waters here are deep and cold, and there are sunbeds and umbrellas but no any beach bars and not in the end of season like in my pic. Therefore, visitors should make provisions for water and snacks.

LA LUCE PERFETTA DEL TRAMONTO.

Dopo la mia prima visita al MATTINO,sono ritornato alla sera ,prima del tramonto,per cogliere i migliori colori dell'altro lato della spiaggia rossa di Kokkinokastro,un momento magico dove anche l'acqua si colora nella miglior maniera.
Cosм chiamata per i colori che assume al tramonto,Kokkinokastro и una spiaggia cristallina con acque calme e azzurrissime. Nuotando al largo si possono riuscire a vedere resti di antiche rovine di una cittа sommersa e ricoperta dal mare. Ci si arriva dal mare in barca, in 20 minuti, o percorrendo una strada di 6 Km. И una spiaggia organizzata con ombrelloni e sdraio,ma solo in alta stagione, ed occorre portarsi provviste ed acqua poichй non c'и nй chiosco nй taverna.

wow!! what a contrast here.The whole picture is ruled by "blue",the orange colored rock made a diversity,and enhanced the contrast. lovely colors ,nice view.thanks for sharing.

Hello Luciano,
Indeed the setting sun has turned the cliff into a fiery red rock which reflections have also changed the colour of the sea water.
The fiery hues are highlighted with the strong contrast with the blue sky.
A beach to get a red tan :)

Perfect light! Mi piace tanto il contrasto tra la luce e l'ombra, e anche il caldo colore de la terra fra il denso blu del mare e il soave blu del cielo! Anche la composizione mi piace... їE se il formato fosse un po piщ "panorama", togliendo una parte del cielo? Comunque, una bellissima foto, e un posto anche bello e ben catturato! Complimenti!

L'endroit est joli , mais ce qui fait la diffйrence ici , c'est йvidemment la chaude lumiиre du soir qui accentue les couleurs et les contrastes , notamment entre les falaises rouges et les arbres verts qui s'y agrippent .

The big rock looks as an imaginary anchored large vessel, Luciano.
Fine golden tone of sunset, long shadow cover large part of the beacg in FG, but created a nice effect.
The broken cliff outlines are very sharp in view.

molto bella la cattura e la presentazione della bellezza particolare che questa spiaggia acquisce nell' ora del tramonto. Come succede nella realta', l' ombra sembra molto densa accanto allo splendore che il sole regala ai colori caldi e questo fa' le aree illuminate brillare ancora di piu'. Il blu e' magnifico e rappresenta la calma assoluta. Quando sto sulla spiaggia a quest' ora, mi fa' triste vedere l' ombra conquistare piano piano tutto il paesaggio. Ottima composizione minimale, complimenti e grazie!

Mкme si le soleil se couche dans ton dos, il y a encore plusieurs personnes pour en profiter sur la plage. Les couleurs que le soleil donnent au rocher sont spectaculaires. J'aime le cadrage qui dйfie un petit peu les rиgles.

These are really glorious colors and light, the orange of the coast is so deep and earthy, and the blue sea is like some sort of rich royal blue carpet. A beautiful composition on the thirds too, and I really like your frame, it makes a huge difference.

We don't actually see so much of the red beach but we are given a good view of the red rock next to it, and the intensity of its colour in the evening light is impressive. Its reflections in the dark water also make a good view. This is generally an intense photo with a very dark blue sky and dark green trees.

the subject takes up the bottom 1/3 nicely.

Incredible warm cold color contrasts between the triangular wedge of reddish toned rock and the deep blue sky and sea. I might have dodged the fg shadow area slightly but this is fine as is. Excellent sharpness and saturation. Have a super week!

The light was indeed perfect. I love the way that it has illuminated the rock giving it a red glow. The graduated blue sky taking up two thirds of the picture works very well for me as it makes a very well balanced composition.

Not to mention, the light is perfect illuminating the cliff so perfectly with the red earth tone. Love it. The sky so clear in deep blue you can see forever. Love the reflection of hte red in the dark blue ocean. It would also work very nice with less sky and a large panoramic version.
