Stone Viewmaster, a photo from Ioannina, Epirus

Photographer's Note

This is another one of the many stone bridges of the region of Zagori and it is called Kaber Aga (or Kaberaga) bridge. Behind you can see a newer bridge. It is located in eastern Zagori, between the villages of Potamia and Miliotades. If you want to find it you have to turn left almost halfway going from Ioannina to Metsovo, taking the road that leads to Greveniti and Vovousa.

The inhabitants of Zagori and Epirus in general, were unknowledged ploughmen and specialized in stone constructions for many centuries not only in Greece, but also the Balkans, Europe, even America and Africa, building beautiful stone houses and bridges. They used to travel in groups like Caravans around the world, making sort of a "tour", and they left their homes for many years.

What amazes me the most in their case is that although these people didn't have a special education, still they had great sense of aesthetics.

Hello dear Hercules,
I didn't notice your "comeback" ! How nice to see you here again.
This capture is again just perfect in every regard and has as allways your typical signature !
Title is also very nice but I think you should add some notes regarding "Viewmaster" ! I do not think that there are many members here, who had once a Viewmaster in their hands !

Hello Hercules,
It's not only a very beautiful stone bridge but this is also a masterpiece of a picture.
The framing with the branches of the trees is excellent. In that time of the year enough leaves have fallen down so that we get a good view of the bridge. The other leaves cheer on the photo with their splendid autumn tones.
The reflection of the bridge with its two circles inside a bigger one is a marvellous sight. We don't get to see much of the sky but it's also reflected wonderfully in the river with its deep blue colour.

the magic eye, a wonderfully composed and captured shot from this truly impressive region in Northern greece, where iґve been several times so far, but unluckily only one time driving through this region on my way to Pelion-peninsul and afterwards back!
but i could see some very special bridges in Peilon too.(around Tsagarada)..

εξαιρετική φωτογραφία! Αποδίδει όχι μόνο την ομορφιά του τοπίου αλλά και την αισθητική και τη σοφή αρχιτεκτονική του γεφυριού. Πιστεύω ότι έκανες μια τολμηρή επιλογή στην οπτική γωνία αφού υπήρχαν μπροστά δέντρα και κλαδιά, αλλά το αποτέλεσμα είναι πολύ όμορφο γιατί εντάσσει αρμονικά το γεφύρι στο περιβάλλον του και δίνει μεγάλη βαρύτητα στον αντικατοπτρισμό. Υπέροχο το πώς άφησες το φως να λάμψει. Θαυμάσια χρώματα και φωτοσκιάσεις. Συγχαρητήρια!

The brilliant colors and resolution suggests an almost created abstract design by an artist, rather than one of willy nilly design of rural nature. Framing one bridge through another. I am looking forward to examining the theme, "Bridges of Greece."

no sй quй pasу ayer, pero borraron todas las crнticas que hice y las que recibн.
Vuelvo a valorar esta gran foto, en la que me gusta la superposiciуn de los dos puentes de diferentes йpocas, y el fantбstico efecto grбfico creado por los reflejos sobre el agua, que cierran el arco como si fuese un ojo.
El resultado es muy grбfico, y la foto tiene una luz y unos colores impresionantes.
