RENOIR, MONET, GAUGUIN - IMAGES OF A FLOATING WORLD

The current exhibition fuses the collection of the Museum of Western Art in Tokyo (currently undergoing renovation) with the already impressive collection of works from the same period of the Folkwang.

This basically means that all the big names are there: Monet, Gauguin, Renoir...but also Manet, Pisarro, Van Gogh, Cйzanne...you name it. And often with works that aren't that familiar to Europeans.

The show runs from February 6 to May 15, 2022.

THIS PICTURE shows the central hall at the Folkwang which features an art installation by Chiharu Shiota. A man walks by. Detail for impressionist buffs: yes, that's a Monet waterlillies painting on the left. Wow!

Chiharu Shiota (°1972) is a Japanese performance and installation artist. Her signature installations consist of dazzling, intricate networks of threads stretching across rooms and spaces.

Ik ben terug, hopelijk voor lang maar dit is geen zekerheid.
Ik vind uw foto zeker geslaagd met het silhouette van de man voor de mooie rode gloed.
Mooi gevonden en zeker mooi gepresenteerd.

Hello Benny,
A bright red installation like this is sure to attract attention among the thumbnails. Whatever it's supposed to mean it's a work to enjoy and let yourself be absorbed by (mentally). You waited for the right moment to take the picture, and luckily the man is clearly watching something. Whether the installation or the Monet is unclear to me but makes no difference.

Hallo Benny,
Een prachtige foto van deze rode regen in de grote museumzaal, het doet me denken aan een kunstwerk dat ik ooit in ik meen SFMOMA heb gezien, maar dat waren wel iets andere vormen. Klinkt als een interessante tentoonstelling, wellicht lukt het me nog het te bezoeken.

How nice to be able to participate in cultural events like this.
Perfect time for the man walking across the frame and the artwork makes for great background. We can see some"red" people though it too!

This explosion of red is very eye-catching, and it really brings to life this spot in the museum. The rest of the room looks very calm. It's nice that you could capture one person walking by and admiring the artwork, too. Take care!

A strange juxtaposition of Monet and contemporary art. The colours in the photo are fantastic, and the person in the foreground gives scale to the work. Good composition and colour.
