Photographer's Note
"Hornet (origami)" is a geometric mosaic of tiles by Sarah Morris in Dusseldorf. It measures 7x27 metres and is located on the Paul-Klee-Platz, right behind the K20, Dusseldorf's museum for 20th century art. The mural dates from 2010.
On one of the first sunny days of the year we went on a short trip to Essen and Dusseldorf in the Ruhr-area of Germany. A major exhibition of mainly impressionist paintings in the Folkwang in Essen was a good excuse for a day out and a visit to Dusseldorf too.

Sarah Morris (°1967) is an American artist known for colourful geometric art and has been commissioned to do several in-site installations like this. Her oeuvre includes both paintings and movies.
---
THIS PICTURE was shot from pretty far away. There's a dark passage which runs underneath the K20 museum (with the entrance on the left). On a dreary day all this is quite dreary, but on a beautiful sunny day this offers exactly the kind of contrast I wanted to go for. Then I just waited for people to walk by.
In the WS there's a wider view of the K20 museum. Maybe you can spot my colourful tunnel view.

Hello Benny,
A very nicely bright mosaic, but it's the silhouettes, especially of the taller person, that make this an interesting photo.
Best regards,
Gert

Hallo Benny,
Heel even deed dit mozaïek me denken aan de wanden naast het perron in het metrostation Merode in Brussel.
Doch dit werk hier heeft veel mooiere patronen.
Mooi getoond met de silhouetten van de hoofden.
Vele groeten, Paul

Hi Benny,The museum building is practically black and white, so it's easy to spot this colorful mega puzzle in the WS. Great catch, excellent idea of including the two heads to break the perspective and give a small idea of its large size. Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

Hello Benny,
This is a wonderful pop of color, and a good composition; I like the silhouettes on the bottom. It's also nice to see the artwork in context with the WS photo. Take care!

Hi Benny
Explosion of colours! A very eye-catching even from the thumbnail and all the elements go so well together. The silhouettes provide strong base leading the eye all the way in
Best regards
