Photographer's Note

METZ is one of those cities we often passed when driving south. It's one of the first cities in France coming from Belgium/Luxemburg. This time we decided to make it our destination, visiting both Metz and Nancy. We discovered both cities to be well worth a visit.

METZ CATHEDRAL is a Roman Catholic cathedral in Metz, capital of Lorraine, France. It is dedicated to Saint Stephen. First begun in the early 14th century, it was joined together with the collegiate church of Notre-Dame in the mid-14th century, and given a new transept and late Gothic chevet, finished between 1486 and 1520. It is the cathedral of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Metz as the seat of the bishops of Metz.

THIS PICTURE shows the view from aside the cathedral. It is visible only as a backdrop here. The stairs lead up to the cathedral, or rather to a rather uninspiring parking space next to it, along a row of grand neo-classicist houses.

Hallo Benny,
Een mooie zigzagcompositie met de trappen, het gebouw in het midden en de indrukwekkend kathedraal op de achtergrond. De schaduwdriekhoek maakt de foto nog mooier dankzij het contrast met de warme, zonbelichte tinten van de gebouwen.

Hallo Benny,
Dit is werkelijk een heel aantrekkelijke compositie.
Eigenlijk heb je het bovenste gedeelte van de kathedraal niet nodig om toch een schitterende foto te bekomen.
De warme tinten en het contrast tussen licht en schaduw maken de foto heel mooi.

Hi Benny,
